She had partially lied to Neji about something, and no, she wasn't thinking about the anger that had been very difficult for her to hide that day she saw Tayuya in front of her desk. That woman represented a very dark time not only in her marriage but for her herself, the redhead represented all the pain she had felt when she found out she couldn't trust her husband, and also represented Tsume's hurtful words along with the threat of losing her son. Her husband had cheated on her, and the one who was going to lose her little dragon was her.
But no, the Hyūga hadn't asked her about it again so that wasn't what she had lied about. She had lied on the previous trip to China by saying that she didn't know the city she was born in. Kiba had once arranged a trip to Zhengzhou, and she had asked her mother if she remembered the neighborhood they lived in, since her husband had never reproached her for her roots, he agreed to go all the way to the area.
It wasn't exactly one of the slums, at least not at present, but it was a very crowded neighborhood and all they could see were huge buildings with hundreds of apartments. They didn't get out of the car, she just took a couple of pictures to send to her mother and they continued their vacation that year touring some more touristy and lively areas of the city.
So when Neji told her that the company he was starting to negotiate with, and wanted her to do the revisions to the conditions as well as the translations, was in that specific city, she just smiled without being sure if he had done it on purpose or not. Meaning, it was April and almost 1 year ago it had been the previous trip to China that somehow started that adventure that she would never admit out loud. She left her own pending up to date and on Friday afternoon she said goodbye to Shizune, the woman had been working as a secretary for a couple of months and they had hit it off.
On Saturday she went out with her family to their flowered field, Ryuu loved the place and it was a tradition to go every year at least once in Spring. Back at home she was checking that her son had no pending homework, and after that she was packing her suitcase, she would travel on Sunday morning and if everything went well by Friday she would be back. Despite the obvious reason why she enjoyed those trips, she still felt a hole in her chest for having to be away from her little dragon for so many days.
Her family had accompanied her to the airport, in the distance she could see Neji accompanied by Shion, he didn't understand how Kiba and her were together, and the truth is that she also failed to understand the relationship that the Hyūga had with his wife. Neji wasn't expressive and she could bet he wasn't particularly romantic either, on the other hand there was the blonde who seemed to ignore every living thing in the place while she had a slight sneer on her face, they were sitting next to each other without talking.
To her mind came the idea that it was like seeing those couples in which both of them are very attractive and somehow that made them to join the other, as if the beauty attracted each other, because no one could deny that Neji's wife was also beautiful, in fact they could have a contest between which one of them had better groomed hair, although the Hyūga had it shorter in comparison. But at the same time it seemed to be the only thing in common they had, there were no affectionate gestures like a hug or holding hands while waiting together. For example she loved to lay her head on her husband's shoulder or have him hug her and lightly caress her back while it was time to board.
She squeezed Ryuu tightly in her arms one last time and gave Kiba a kiss when it was time to go to immigration, she had been the one who had booked the flights and didn't know that Shion was also traveling, but the woman crossed into that area as well. She supposed it was a good thing for them that the blonde decided to accompany him, which would give her time to use the trip to do some shopping or try to get to know her hometown a little more.
