May was nearing its end when they settled Ryuu in the special car seat, and packed in the trunk a huge basket with everything they had prepared for the picnic. The day to take their little dragon to stretch his wings had arrived. With just a couple of miles remaining Kiba told her to shift and she would drive from there, she felt completely terrified in front of the steering wheel as she saw the pedals and the gearshift as if she had never seen them before. According to him in the time he had been teaching her she wasn't doing badly, but now she was panicking because her son's life was also at stake.

"There's nothing to crash into and you know how few cars drive around here," he squeezed her hand gently to loosen the rigid grip he kept on the steering wheel, "remember you have your driver's license test next week," she nodded and took a deep breath trying to calm down, "the chair, the mirrors," she obediently adjusted these and then pressed the ignition button, stepping lightly on the accelerator, "that's it sweetie."

It wasn't so bad if she was only going twenty miles an hour, the Inuzuka had patiently explained everything to her and since she had always considered him a good driver, she also considered he was teaching her well. Pulling to a stop she set the handbrake and switched the lever to park before turning off the engine and smiling victoriously, she had checked the bus routes from her home to what would be her future university, and there was indeed a considerable change in travel time which translated as more time with her son. She hadn't yet asked how they would settle in with the car, as for that she probably needed to know her class schedule first, but they would get to that.

She got out and tossed the key back to her husband before opening the back-seat door to release Ryuu's seatbelt who was already shifting uncomfortably because he wanted to get out. She set him down, and the infant pointed to some flowers before running over to them.

"Go ahead, I'll take care of the rest," she nodded and went after the boy. Walking a bit beside him, her vocabulary had expanded and she loved listening to him try to pronounce Chinese, especially since it was something only the two of them understood. She let him scamper around for another bit before picking him up and going to where she had left Kiba, who had spread a blanket on the floor, and had already brought out the food.

If her memory was correct, around the same time 3 years earlier had been the first time he had taken her there, and it still seemed as beautiful as it did then. The difference was the infant who now accompanied them and who gave joyful screams as his father tickled him. Kiba handed the youngest the cup with chopped fruit she had prepared in the morning, and then extended a glass of iced tea which she received, she was thirsty from the hot weather. It was simply one of those moments you want to pause and relive forever, a day to remember because joy overflowed them.

"Tenten," she only turned her head slightly, since her birthday they had been getting closer little by little, and she didn't feel uncomfortable because of how close they had sat and for some reason not because of the way he was looking at her at that moment either.

Gently he took her chin just to pull her face up a little and brought their lips together in a soft kiss that made all the butterflies in her stomach flutter and a pleasant tingle appear, it was exactly how she had felt with their first kiss together. She was no longer the clumsy girl she was then, and reciprocated it all at once, both of them slowly starting to increase the intensity at least a little. A sigh escaped her throat as the seconds ticked by, and the thump of something cold made them pull apart, Ryuu had thrown a piece of fruit at them probably annoyed at being ignored.

"Slowly," he whispered to her, pulling away to focus on the infant.

She was completely blushing, it was their first kiss since everything had happened, and it was going to be impossible for her to deny first that she had been longing for the moment since a few weeks ago, and second that her whole body reacted to him and she liked being close, after all Kiba had been right when he said they would rebuild their relationship from the beginning, and she had been attracted since that day when he left his number in her suitcase.
