It had taken all the concentration and willpower she was capable of not to cry as she explained to Ryuu that his parents had decided to divorce. Her little dragon had watched them stunned, alternating glances between them as he asked for more reasons, a week ago they were happy on a trip and now suddenly that, he didn't understand.

"It's adult matters, honey," she had always hated to be answered that way, but it was the only possible answer, "it's a decision that your father and I made for different reasons that only we know, it has absolutely nothing to do with you," her son didn't like those words, "it doesn't mean that we don't love you, or that you won't count on us anymore, we will always be here for you."

"And you can't be for me together?" she shook her head and saw him pout, "I have friends with separated dads, their parents never talk to each other except to argue."

"That's not going to happen," it was Kiba who spoke, "your mother and I will still be friends, it's just that we won't live together any more."

"Who is going to leave?"

"Me, I'll be with your grandmother for a few days and then..."

"Are you going to take me with you?" he asked her all at once and she could feel her eyes watering, "I want to go with you."

"I can't, honey... it's," she didn't want to cry, it would be worse.

"Your mother has some things to solve out of the country," Kiba helped her seeing that she couldn't speak, "she won't be gone forever, until then you will be with me."

"Don't take this wrong dad, but I want to go with my mom," the Inuzuka smiled sideways, they had assumed well that their little dragon would choose her, "mommy?"

"It will only be a few months, Ryuu," the decision to hide her condition also from their son was due to the fact not only to be confusing, but that he could tell someone, "I will call you every day, I will do homework with you and we will have dinner together... but I can't take you with me."

Tears had appeared in her little dragon, who hugged her as he cried because he didn't want her to go and leave him. It was inevitable to cry with him, she didn't want to leave him, she felt completely devastated to know that she was leaving half of her life behind. He was her firstborn and until a few days ago he had been her only priority.

But she also had to think about the being that was growing in her womb, and whose future wasn't yet so defined. At that moment the welfare of her new baby depended exclusively on her and that was why she had to start thinking more about the baby. Every day away from her son was going to hurt, but it would be temporary and when she returned, she would be able to keep him with her.

And precisely thinking about the welfare of her pregnancy, she had to stop crying and maintain the mood that had characterized everything since she had found out. It wasn't good for her, for that very reason it wasn't a good idea to go all the way to the Hyūga's office, she could send her resignation by mail even if it was unprofessional and ask for her things to be sent to her mother's apartment.

The problem was that deep inside she needed to see Neji one last time, even if she couldn't explain the reasons for her abrupt way of leaving him, especially when she thought he might somehow realize she was dying of nausea and notice the non-existent belly that was just starting to grow but she felt was gigantic as she tried to hide it in a baggy dress. That Monday had been the last day she would allow herself to cry like that, because she had come to the car to cry because she couldn't keep her composure.

The clock had already started ticking against her, she had bought the tickets to travel the day after Ryuu's birthday and she had to get everything ready before then. She was in a hurry, she had to leave before her condition really started to show and the news got around. So she had to divide her time, on the one hand to do the paperwork to change her ID because she would return to her maiden name, take her belongings to her mother's, organize everything there, the possible meetings with Kiba's lawyers, and spend as much time as possible with her son before getting on the plane.
