Disturbance

Any trace of drowsiness had completely disappeared while beside him Tenten had resumed breathing in a rhythmic way, he watched her unable to believe what he had heard, it must be a mistake. But what was it people said about drunks and children always telling the truth? While the brunette wasn't completely drunk, she had ingested much more alcohol than she was used to.

His head began to start tying up possible loose ends, his first step being to check her phone. Every time they switched cell phones the first thing they did was configure each other's fingerprints, the same thing happened with Ryuu's phone so that they could always check what their son was doing. But it wasn't about their little dragon at the moment, it was about his wife, so he unlocked it and started checking the basics.

Tenten wasn't as tech savvy as he was, so deleting conversations without a trace or having secret apps wasn't something that was going to happen. He checked on the messaging app anyway, the only conversations with Neji were during office hours or were from her letting him know she had meetings at Ryuu's school, appointments at the pediatrician, the last one was a medical appointment of hers that he wasn't aware of. Not that he demanded that she tell him absolutely everything, but when it came to health it was important for him to also be aware of what was going on with his wife.

In the archived conversations there was only one, the one with her late father. He opened random conversations, Tenten sometimes talked to other mothers at the institute about homework or activities that were being organized, no big deal. He checked the photos and there was nothing there either, had he misheard? No, he was completely sure of her words and that it had been her boss's name that had been uttered.

He had been opening some apps, only to check that there was none pretending to be something else, squinting as he opened her watch and saw an alarm identified only by a symbol that appeared to be a pill and repeated daily. Probably in a past life he had been a detective, so he got up all at once and trying not to make noise he opened her nightstand, there was nothing to catch his attention. He looked everywhere before thinking about her purse, so he left the room and went to the fist floor where Tenten left it every day when she returned home. He turned on the phone's flashlight and began to check the contents, somehow he knew within himself that he would recognize what he was looking for as soon as he saw it. And so he did.

He took out the blister pack, seeing that several of the pills were missing and that they were marked by days. It was the kind of thing that everyone on the planet would recognize, just in case, he searched in incognito mode on her cell phone for the name to check what he already knew, it was a birth control pill. Since when had his wife changed the contraceptive method? He did the math in his head, the 5 years of the second birth control device were long gone. He put everything back the way he had found it and went back to bed, Tenten was still asleep so he put her phone back on the nightstand and stared at her.

Who was that woman and what had she done with his wife? The Tenten he knew and had married would never hide things from him, not counting the money in the fund she had in Ryuu's name and she believed he didn't know about, HIS wife wouldn't be able to be cheating on him, let alone hide something as important as the contraceptive change from him without them talking about it first. That was a decision that was up to both of them and one in which he had believed that not bringing up the subject of having another child again was because her career was on the right track.

How long had she been sleeping with her boss? The brunette traveled every 3 months or so, the doubt that was gnawing at him was whether she had really kept something like that from him since the trips had started. He had seen her room reservations that she showed him, that every day she called Ryuu without fail, they talked by message all the time despite the distance, so he had never come to suspect anything like that.
