She hid her head against Neji's neck so that way she could muffle the sound of her moan as her body trembled slightly, the hands on her hips took her tighter accelerating the movements and stopping only a few seconds later after emitting something like a grunt. She didn't want to move, she didn't want to see the face of the man she was sitting on with her underwear off and her dress rolled up at the waist.
It was a Monday in August and since a few weeks ago for no entirely valid reason she had decided to start a dangerous game that had brought them to the position they were in, literally. What she wasn't sure was whether that meant she had won or lost. Reluctantly she stood up and lifted her panties to go to the bathroom he kept in the office even though she hadn't asked his permission to do so. She had to clean herself up, get rid of the traces of what had just happened, and then she would return to her desk to continue her work.
She saw herself in the mirror, her face, neck and what little of her chest could be seen was completely red for the obvious reason. She took some water in her hands to erase a few wrinkles that had formed on her dress, and after being sure that she looked the same as in the morning before arriving at the office, she left the compartment.
"I need the July report," Neji said in her direction, the used chair had returned to its place and he was also back in his usual attitude, sipping the glass of coffee that by now should be almost cold.
"Right away."
While she was adjusting the last data of the report she was thinking that she didn't know why she had acted that way. Since the trip to China in May, she hadn't had sex with her boss again, until that morning, but before that her work had remained the same as before. It wasn't as if she had been thinking about such a thing.
The problem had started on Kiba's birthday when they were at the restaurant, that message she caught a glimpse of when his phone screen lit up slightly precisely because of the notification. She was sure of what she had read, and when her husband and son had gone to the bathroom she checked the cell phone, she didn't open the conversation as the words were obvious and this time the number wasn't saved with any name. That's why she had written it down on her own phone before leaving the device as it was on the table.
It wasn't a suspicion, her husband was again seeing another woman. The rest of the dinner she pretended not to know and watched him check the messages while they waited for the valet parking to arrive with the car. They hadn't traveled anywhere that year because he said he had a lot of work, and that they could try to do something short for Ryuu's birthday or wait for the end of the year mini-vacation. She couldn't be angry or disappointed like when Tayuya happened, she herself had committed such a sin on the trip with her boss, but it still gave her a bad taste in her mouth.
She couldn't plead a headache that night in bed, it was his birthday and obviously they had to celebrate it, she just tried to disconnect her mind during the encounter, enjoying herself as she had always liked her husband's ability. She had liked it when she had no one to compare it to, and she still liked it even if she couldn't say out loud that she had slept with someone else.
When she checked the number she saw that the picture on the messaging app showed a woman with red hair – did Kiba have a fixation with redheads? And another app for recognizing unknown numbers gave her the name. That didn't change anything, it felt hypocritical to complain to him and divorce was a topic that was still off the table. She couldn't lose her son and no matter how much savings she had, it wouldn't cover all the legal process that would come her way to fight for custody. So she could only ignore her discovery.
On Monday in the office she was still thinking about it, about Neji's question on the day of her interview about what she had seen on Kiba. And she had to answer herself honestly, the Inuzuka was attractive, had been when she met him and still was, he was funny and she wasn't sure she could describe exactly how it was that she had turned out to be head over heels in love with him. Maybe his confidence as he always seemed to know what he was doing, was that it? that he had flirted with her and she had fallen for it not knowing any better? She couldn't even be sure she knew how to flirt, she was 28 years old and had never flirted properly. Before her husband her only experience boiled down to her having kissed a boy at 15, and that had been more of his initiative.
