PAWNING

"Tee! You want breakfast?!" Matt shouts from the kitchen, "I'm making pancakes!"

Trinity gets up off her bed and jogs into the kitchen and sits at the small brown dining table, "Yes please, Dad," She smiles widely with her teeth.

"Well, they ain't ready just yet. What were you doin' last night?"

"Out with my friends, it's summer so always finding something to do,"

He nods, "Now these friends are the ones you ran off with at Midsummers?"

"Yeah,"

"Good, they're fun kids. Especially Heyward's kid, he's sweet."

Trinity smiles and agrees, "Yeah, he is." And then there was a knock at the door, taking them both a little by surprise, "You want me to get that?" Trinity asks,

But Matt shakes his head, "You sit and wait for your pancakes, I'll go see who it is."

Trinity hears multiple voices and Matt laughing, and then offering them to come inside, "Look at that, we summoned them," Matt chuckles as the Pogues come in and spread around the table.

"Why are you guys here?" She asks.

"More adventures," John B grins, putting his arm around Sarah's shoulders.

Matt turns around to look at the group of kids, and points to Sarah, "Now you are a new addition, hello Sarah,"

"Hi Mr Von Thorne--"

"Y'all call me Matt, Matthew, doesn't really matter which one," He puts down a plate of pancakes in the centre of the table, "Now I'm making extra in case y'all want some too,"

"Thank you!"

"Thanks, Matt,"

"Thanks,"

While everyone was thanking Trinity's Dad, John B leant to the left slightly, closer to Trinity and whispered, "We're gonna pawn the wheat,"

Trinity was confused, she looked at him funnily when he pulled away and then she understood, "Oh, the wheat,"

Matt puts down another plate, "Now, who do I have to thank for getting Trinity out of the house and giving her a social life?"

The Pogues laugh and point between John B apart from both John B and Sarah, they point to JJ for a different reason. Sarah and John B both look at each other and laugh, JJ catches on but ignores it and takes a pancake.

"She's better around the Pogues," Kie states.

Matt nods, "I agree. Now, I have to get to work so see y'all soon, Tee, lock the door when y'all leave,"

Trinity nods and takes another pancake, "I will, have a good day,"

"I will, bye everyone!" He waves to each of the Pogues.

"Bye!" They all say in sync and watch him leave through the door.

And then Trinity stops her fake smile, "Seriously, what are you doing here?"

They all turn to JJ who is reaching in his back pack for something. He pulls out what looks to be a big golden splodge. He thumps it on the table.

"JJ!" Trinity lifts up the surprisingly heavy gold and makes sure there wasn't a dent in the table, "Okay, you melted the gold...and now you're pawning it off, yes?"

"Correct,"

Trinity looks closely at the gold in her hands, "You don't think this looks suspicious?"
