Chapter 10

Nova didn't know what had gotten into her. She stood up, and yelled, "HEY YOU, CACTUS-LICKER!" The Sandwing was about to make contact, but heard her yell, and stopped. He stiffened, and turned his head slowly, and glared at Nova. "What...did you just call me, you FILTHY Nightwing?!" Nova stood her ground and glared back, "You heard me." She gestured to the Seawing. "Leave him alone, and pick on someone your own size." The Sandwing barked a laugh, "I don't think so. This wimp needs to pay for what he did." He smirked, "And why should I listen to you? You're nothing but a-" She didn't hear the rest. All she remembered was that one fateful day with Clawbreaker. You're nothing but a disgrace! An excuse of a Nightwing! She saw red. "YOU'LL REGRET THAT, YOU FILTHY CACTUS-LICKER!" She lunged at him, and tackled him. He was almost twice her size, but Nova was stronger than most dragons took her for. He was caught off guard, and her sudden attack caused him to fall. He staggered up, and lunged at her. She jumped out of the way, and he stumbled forward. He looked shaken, "Ok, fine! I give up!" His words were lost on her. She screamed and scratched him. He yelped in pain, and soon he was a bruised mess, and he was bleeding a little bit. Nova breathed hard. She was about to lunge at him again, when a warm talon gripped her shoulder. "Nova, please. He's learnt his lesson." She leaped, startled, and hissed at the dragon. When she saw who it was, she was pulled back into reality. She looked around the hall, and she fell to her knees. The Sandwing was on the floor, eyes closed, but still breathing. The floor was stained with food and a little bit of blood from the Sandwing's wounds. Her head was pounding, and everyone in the hall was watching with...Fear? Awe? Shock? She thought. She groaned, suddenly aware of how much pain she was in. The room started to spin, and she fell.
