Jade Mountain Academy wasn't much to look at, but Nova was amazed. She had never seen anything like it before. She turned around to talk to her mother, and saw her touch her head, wincing. "Mother, are you okay?" She asked anxiously. Daybreak smiled weakly, "Yes dear, I'm fine." Then she said, "Well...it's time. For you to go to school..." Nova smiled, "Don't worry, I'll be fine." she thought. Daybreak replied, "I know, I'm just worried." She whispered, "I have something to give you." Nova asked, "What is it?" Her mother took a small pouch from under her wing, and said "Here. It's skyfire. It'll protect you from mindreaders." Nova grinned, "Thanks Mom." She tied it around her neck. Daybreak gave her a serious look, "Whatever you do, don't tell anyone about your secret. Some dragons have...strong opinions about abilities like that." Nova understood. "I can take care of myself, don't worry!" And I can keep a secret. she thought. She hugged her mother and heard her whisper, "I'll miss you..." Daybreak stepped back, and flew away, leaving Nova behind. Nova sighed, and turned around. She walked towards the entrance where a familiar-looking Nightwing with silver teardrop scales was standing with a scroll and quill. She saw Nova and beamed, "Hey! I know you!" Nova was confused, "Y-you do?" The Nightwing laughed, "You live in the Nightwing village, right? So do I, and Starflight does too!" That's why she's familiar! "I'm Fatespeaker, who might you be?" Nova smiled shyly, "I'm Nova." Fatespeaker looked at her scroll, and muttered, "Nova...hmmm...Nova." then,"AH-HA!"
