I didn't post anything for some time, so I'm making it up by posting two chapters today.
Nova blinked her eyes open. Someone was standing over her. Someone with warm yellow scales... she whispered, "S-Serval?" The dragon sighed with relief. He stepped back, and Nova sat up. She rubbed her eyes, and blinked several times. Where am I? She remembered. She remembered tears, pain, and running away. She remembered Leopard, with furious red and black scales and a hurt look on his face. Serval looked at her with a mixed expression, both of relief and worry. Nova stood up and asked, "How did you even find me?" Serval looked at the ground. "I sort of followed you? And then got lost?" "And then you found me." she finished with a smile. Serval stepped closer. "I was really worried about you, you know." he said quietly. Nova looked away. "I probably shouldn't have run away. But-" Serval put a talon to her mouth to quiet her. "I get it. You were upset. Leopard shouldn't have yelled at you." Nova hung her head. "I deserved it." Serval shook his head firmly, "You didn't do anything wrong." And then he took another step closer. Then without warning, he wrapped his wings around her. Nova's face was on fire. She stiffened for a moment before hugging him back. He was taller than her, with her head only reaching his neck. He let go, blushing. He started, "I'm s-" Nova smiled shyly and said, "It's ok. I needed that. Thank you." They were both silent for a moment. Nova blurted, "We should probably head back to school." Serval nodded. "Yea..." The two smiled at each other briefly, and set off.
