~Month 2~
Emily has been gone for two months now, and JJ was getting a really bad feeling. She didn't know how long Emily was going to be away taking her space. Because of that, she didn't know that Emily was kidnapped. "This isn't like her. She would never be gone this long." JJ said to Brooklyn and Matt as they were on their lunch break.
"Babes, she has been through Hell. You both have. She just has a lot that she needs to process. I'm sure that she is at some beach right now staring at the waves. Or she could be staring at other women, but that's beside the point." Matt said.
"I swear to God, if she is..." JJ said, trailing off. She began to get mad and jealous at the thought of Emily looking at other women.
"I'm sure she's just looking at the waves. But I'm sure she is just clearing her head, drinking alcohol, and having a great time and is about to come home." he said, finishing his thought.
"She can't drink because she's pregnant with Ian's child." JJ said, finally telling them the truth.
"Oh shit. I forgot. She's, what, two months along now?" he asked. JJ nodded her head.
"How are you processing that?" Brooklyn asked.
"I honestly don't even know. A part of me absolutely hates Ian and will be reminded of him every time I see the child. The other part of me is sad for Emily because this is her second child out of rape as well as her second child with Ian. The first child out of rape she miscarried. You guys know about Declan. Luckily he was out of love. And now this one, out of hatred and rape." JJ said. She almost threw up when she mentioned Declan being made out of love because she didn't think that Ian actually loved Emily. The thought of him once loving her just makes her sick to her stomach.
"Man. Declan's 15 now right? So Emily was 15 when she had him. That means that she was at least 15 when she was raped." Brooklyn said.
"She was 14." JJ corrected her.
"14. She's had so much locked up within her mind. She's been through so much at such a young age. It's hard to imagine her ever being hurt that much because she always seems happy." Brooklyn mentioned.
"I know. Hell I'm a damn profiler, and not once did I ever suspect her being this sad and depressed. It broke me reading what she had written. Her mother seemed like such a nice lady when I first met her. But when I read what Emily wrote about her and what she said, my respect for her went out the window. She's mainly the reason why Emily has body image issues." JJ said.
"She literally has the perfect body though." Matt said.
"Trust me, I know she does. But the things her mother said to her when she was so young is so horrible. I think she started to really remember when we saw her at Raising Cane's." JJ said. She looked at her watch and realized that they needed to get back to the station.
~Month 3~
JJ knew something was wrong. She tried to wait for Emily to come back home, but she knew something was wrong. Never would Emily stay this long away. She knew she needed her space, but she also knew it wouldn't take her this long to cope. She had received a letter in the mail with no return address, and after she read it she knew that Emily had been kidnapped. Though it was Emily's handwriting, it wasn't Emily's words. It felt scripted to JJ. JJ knew that she wouldn't be able to find Emily on her own, so she decided to call in the BAU with her Sergeant's permission. She was scared to face them because she hasn't apologized to them yet or even spoken to them.
"Jayje." JJ heard. She knew that it was Garcia. JJ turned around and saw the team standing there. Garcia was the first one to give her a hug. After they all had shared a hug, they began to get to work. They dug deep into Emily's life as well as JJ's and Ian's. As much as JJ wanted to help them, she also had a job to do as a K9 officer. She hated that she couldn't be on the case. She was starting to wish she didn't quit the BAU, but she also keeps in mind that she wouldn't have met amazing people nor would she have Nala and Sergio.
JJ hears over the scanner that there had been a dead body found. Her heart instantly dropped to her stomach as the only person on her mind was Emily. So many questions ran through her head before she is called to another drug bust. As she was on the road, the only thing she was thinking about is if the body found was Emily. But, she tried to stay positive in thinking that if she hasn't been found yet, then she's still alive.
Nala found the drugs in the car and on the person before they head back to the station. As she was walking to her desk to do paperwork, she saw that Derek and Rossi were leaving. So she walked over to Hotch and asked him what it was about.
"Why are Derek and Rossi leaving? Did you guys find a lead on where Emily is?" JJ asked.
"Unfortunately not. However, there was a dead body that has been discovered that is more abnormal than usual." Hotch said.
"Was it the one that I heard over the scanner?" JJ asked. Hotch nodded his head.
"I don't know the full details, but I know the victim is blonde with X's cut over her closed eyes along with a 'C' carved on the left side of the chest where the heart is." he explained. JJ nodded her head and went back to her desk. She finished up some paperwork before her shift officially ended. She was exhausted, but she wanted to find Emily. So she stayed in her uniform and tried to help out as much as she could. However, she felt helpless because they all had their jobs to do while she just sat their on the sideline. They ended up finding a note in the victim's throat saying,
'This is only the beginning.'
JJ's emotions were all over the place, so she excused herself from Hotch and Derek's conversation and went to the empty office. She slid down the wall and hugged her knees. No tears were coming out as she just needed to take a minute to herself and process what all is going on. Suddenly there was a knock on the door, so she told the person to come in. It was Hotch, which surprised her. "How are you holding up?" he asked.
"Fine." JJ said, trying to be strong.
"Every once and a while, it's okay to fall apart. Tacos fall apart all the time, but we still love them." he said in hopes to cheer her up a little bit. It made her smile, and she got up. She walked over to him and just hugged him. When he wrapped his arms around her and hugged her back, all of her emotions came out. She cried on his shoulder, hugging him tighter. He rubbed her back softly, trying to comfort her.
"It's going to be okay. We're going to find her, and she will be back in your arms. I'm not going to let what happened to Haley happen to Emily." he said.
"I-I don't know what I'm doing without her. I don't know what I'm going to do if she's already dead." JJ cried. Hotch held on to her and let her cry on his shoulder until she was done, which resulted in her falling asleep. Since there was a couch in the empty office, he picked her up and laid her down. He felt weird having to take off her duty belt, but it had to be done. He took out her ponytail holder so her hair could be down because he remembers Haley saying how it's uncomfortable to lay down with hair up. Then he left and asked the Sergeant if there were any blankets around. Luckily there were, so he brought one to her. Lastly, he allowed Nala into the room so she could sleep with her and keep an eye on her. He left the door crack open so Nala could open it and let someone know if she needed to use the bathroom.
"Hotch, there's been another body found. Same thing; X's cut on closed eyes, and the 'C' carved on the chest where the heart is. Except this time it's a brunette." Derek said.
