Chapter 13: The Battle of Lake Laogai

Activity Log: Grand Army of The Republic, 501st Legion

Situation: Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan, working with Avatar Aang, have captured a high-profile official of Ba Sing Se. After recording Long Feng's verbal confession of how the Dai Li have enslaved the people of Ba Sing Se, they have taken him back to their refuge and alerted Jedi Master Aayla Secura.

Mission: To interrogate Long Feng, find out where the Dai Li headquarters are, alert the Earth King, and execute a quick strike on the Dai Li that defeats them once and for all.

Execution: Once Long Feng breaks from Skywalker's interrogation, Master Secura will send a scouting team to the given location so they can verify Long Feng's words. When that is done, they will conduct surveillance of the location and present photographic evidence to the Earth King. The strike will commence once the Earth King gives the authorization.

Location: Upper Ring of Ba Sing Se.

Time: Fourteen weeks since the battle of the North Pole.

Long Feng grunted in pain; his head throbbed and every muscle group in his body ached. He tried to move his hands; they were bound! He tried to twist his body; it was immobilized in a prison of rock! He tried to open his eyes; he was blindfolded!

Livid with rage, he continued his vain struggle for a few seconds until he felt the blindfold being ripped off abruptly. Opening his eyes and catching his breath, he looked around and saw the two Jedi standing in front of him, their arms crossed and flanked by one of the clone troopers. He growled in defiance but suddenly went silent when he felt a cold, circular piece of metal press against the side of his head.

The ARC trooper leveled a blaster pistol to his temple.

"Flinch, and your agents will receive your corpse at the front door of the Earth King's palace," Fives threatened, his voice taking on a hard edge.

Long Feng sighed in surrender...how could he have let himself get jumped so easily?! Where were his agents? Surely at least one of them must've seen him being abducted!

"Unhand me this instant, Republic fools!" he protested. "Where am I?! Where have you taken me?!"

"Silence, ostrich-horse face," Toph insulted, stepping into his view from the left side of the room. "You're in our Upper Ring residence right now, and don't bother hoping your agents will come rescue you. We carried you underground the whole way here. And you're not going anywhere until you tell us what we want to know!"

Long Feng observed Katara and Aang exchanging a nervous glance behind her. It didn't help his current dilemma that much though, for they were only two people amidst others that clearly had no qualms about making this day his last.

"The monks taught me all life is sacred," Aang thought apprehensively. "I understand this man is an oppressor and manipulator, but how far are Master Skywalker and these troopers willing to go in order to obtain the information?"

Katara was also hesitant herself. She never was one to hold back on protecting the ones she loved, but right now she couldn't help but think of the time Jet attempted to drown the innocent village.

"This man is unarmed, trapped, and there's eight of us and only one of him...is this really justified?"

Long Feng laughed, maintaining his arrogant composure. "You wouldn't dare," he boasted. "The longer you keep me here, the closer my agents get to swarming this house and locking up all you miserable lot."
