My phone buzzes with a notification from TikTok:
lilhuddy tagged you in a post
"That's weird," I whisper to myself before opening the post.
Chase is walking down a street and music starts playing.
"I would walk a thousand miles, just to talk to you again."
The shot changes to a close up of his face, showing bags under his eyes, indicating that he hasn't slept.
"Put two Xs on my eyes," he covers his eyes with his hands, which both have an X on the back of them, "if you tell me it's the end." The video starts to replay and I look at the caption:Loved you from the start @ yourusername
Then a text message pops up:
Chase
Look outsideI walk over to my window and open the curtains to see him standing in the middle of his driveway with a big sign in his hands that reads:
You're sweeter than ice cream and strawberries, be my date to homecoming?
I look back at his face with tears in my eyes and I can tell he's getting antsy, waiting for my answer.
I nod my head and whisper, "of course I will."
A huge smile breaks out across his face as relief floods his features. He really thought I could say no to something so sweet and meaningful.
I blink and he's gone, and my door bursts open behind me as arms snake around my waist.
"I really screwed up and I'm so sorry," he mumbles against the crook of my neck.
I lean back into him, "you didn't know."
"That's not an excuse," he squeezes me tighter against him.
I'm barely able to turn in his arms and I wrap my arms around his neck.
"Never make me give you space again," he pleads, "it turns out I'm lost without you."
I squeeze him tighter, "I promise not to."
