"Well now what?" I ask once we get into his car.
"Do you want to go to the beach?" He suggests.
"Um, I think we're a little too formal for the beach," I puff my skirt up a little and laugh.
He rolls his eyes playfully, "we can go home and change first."
I nod, "seems like a good idea."
"Okay," he smiles and we head towards home.

My mom looks up in shock when I walk in the front door, "you're back early! Like really early."
"We got kicked out," I laugh, "for kissing."
She shakes her head with a smile, "they still have that stupid rule in place?"
"Yeah."
"How was it?"
"It was good, really good," I don't mention Charli's threats. "Chase got homecoming king as a write in vote, and he wrote a song and sang it for me on stage." I smile at the memory of up.
"Aw, that's really sweet," she gushes.
"We were going to change and head to the beach, if that's okay?" I linger by the staircase.
"Okay, sweetie," she nods, "want me to help you get your makeup off?"
"Sure," I nod and she follows me up the stairs.
After she finally gets all of the makeup off, I put my bathing suit on underneath my shirt and shorts before heading downstairs.

I walk down the stairs to see Chase sitting with my dad on the couch talking to him.
"What are we talking about?" I lean against the wall between the living room and the front door.
"About that song he wrote you," my dad smiles, "it sounds really sweet."
"Yeah," I smile, "he is really sweet."
Chase blushes, "you'll have to play it for them sometime."
I nod, "I will. Ready to go?"
"Yup," he gets off the couch and joins me by the front door.
"I'll be home late-ish, if that's okay? Never know what this one has planned," I bump Chase with my hip.
"That's fine, sweetie," my dad says.
"Have fun," my mom smiles from behind him.
I wave at them before leaving, and Chase shuts the door behind him.
"How long were you waiting?" I ask as I put my seatbelt on.
"Not long," he puts his seatbelt on and turns the key in the ignition. "Are you hungry?"
"Uh, sure," I say at the sudden change of topic.
"In-n-Out?"
"Sounds good," I say and he backs out of the driveway and we're on our way.
After about ten minutes of driving, we finally reached In-n-Out Burger, and by that time my stomach was growling. We both got burgers, French fries, and we share a chocolate milkshake.
"Your weird," he shakes his head as I spoon the whipped cream into my mouth.
"No, you're weird," I say after I swallow, "I can't believe you don't like the whipped cream."
"Smile," he says and snaps a quick picture of me holding an empty spoon up to my mouth.
After a few seconds, my phone pings with an Instagram notification:

lilhuddy tagged you in a post

I open it to see it's the picture of me kissing his cheek outside of my parents house, and swipe to see the second picture is the one he just took seconds ago. The caption reads:

Get you a girl that can do both <3

I like the post and look up to see him grinning at me.
I shake my head with a laugh, "you are such a dork."
"But I'm your dork," he laughs, "and you love me."
"Without a doubt," I smile.
His phone dings with a text and he rolls his eyes.
"What is it?" I ask.
"Charli. She's asking if we've changed our mind and are coming to her party."
"Oh," I tense at the mention of her. "She was not happy with that stunt you pulled."
He shrugs, "I couldn't care less. You're what matters to me."
I debate whether or not to tell him about what happened in the bathroom, but decide not to. It's not something he needs to worry about.

I shiver as the ocean breeze chills the droplets of water on my arms. We lasted maybe ten minutes in the water before deciding it was too dark and too cold, so now we sit huddled together on the shoreline.
"Do you want ice cream?" He asks, pulling me closer to him so I can soak up his body warmth.
"As much as I hate to say it, no. It's way to cold," I laugh. "I don't need my insides matching my outsides."
He laughs, "ready to go get warmed up?"
I nod, "very much so."
"Okay," he gets up before grabbing my hands and helping me up. "Let's go get warm."
