I wake up to a long grumble coming from my stomach and realize the only thing I've eaten today is ice cream. I open my eyes to see Chase trying to hold in laughter.
"Uh, you hungry?" He starts laughing once he sees I'm awake.
"Oh, ha ha," I say sarcastically. "We've only had ice cream today, what do you expect?"
"Very true," he nods his head, "well, what do you want to eat?"
I shrug the shoulder that's not pressed against his side.
He groans, "why can't you ever pick somewhere to eat?" He jokes.
I simply shrug my shoulder in response again and laugh.
He gets on his phone to start searching for places to eat but his lock-screen catches my eye first.
"Wait, what was that picture?" I ask. He locks his phone again and lights up the lock-screen to show a picture of him and I cuddling with me passed out on his chest and him smiling down at me.
"When did you take that?" I ask in a small voice.
"About an hour ago," he smiles, "you were so cute, and I told you I was going to get a picture of you.
I smile up at him, "you're such a dork."
He kisses my forehead before going back to finding somewhere to eat.
"There's In-n-Out, Taco Bell," he starts listing off restaurants but I stop him.
"Taco Bell!"
"O-kay," he laughs, "Taco Bell it is."
He goes to sit up but I keep him pinned down with my head still on his chest.
"That requires moving," I groan. My stomach grumbles in protest of my laziness.
"Okay, okay, I'm going," I laugh and get up.
Chase immediately starts running his fingers through my hair as a way of brushing it. "There you go," he smiles sweetly.
"Thank you," I laugh.***
As we get into his car and head to Taco Bell I check the time to see it's only four in the afternoon.
"Time is going so slow," I groan. "How is it only four o'clock?"
"Right," Chase agrees, "it should at least be almost seven."
Within a ten minute drive, we arrive at Taco Bell and order our usuals before sitting down at a table with our strawberry freezes.
"How long was I asleep on you?" I ask after taking a sip.
"Just over two hours," he shrugs. "I'm pretty sure I fell asleep at some point, too."
"Sorry about that, we were supposed to be watching The Nightmare Before Christmas."
"I don't think we were really paying attention when we were awake, either," he laughs.
I touch my neck where I'm sure there are some hickies and say, "yeah, probably not."
"I really did a number on you," he chuckles as he looks at the many hickies covering my neck.
"Yeah, when we get home, you're helping me cover them up. My parents can't see all this, they'll never let us be in the same room as each other, let alone the same bed."
"I could always change that," he smirks.
I roll my eyes with a laugh, "you can't just compel people to make them do whatever you want."
"Oh, you see, I can."
I shake my head, "until the person you try to compel is un-compel-able," I make up my own word.
"Vampires can't compel other vampires," he shrugs, "I'm not that worried about it."
"You also can't compel people that are taking vervain," I remind him.
"That would take people knowing that vampires are real, which a lot of people don't even think they are, and the ones that do either think they're awesome or carry a wooden stake at all times."
"You really have this all figured out, don't you?"
He nods his head.
I laugh, "of course you do. See, you don't even need me to help you do research anymore." I fake pout.
He rolls his eyes playfully before going up to get our food.
We eat in silence and my stomach finally settles down once I get some food in it.
