I had ten minutes before rehearsal started and I still hadn't found a partner, I had just walked into the library to see Kai and Thomas sat together laughing so I could either be brave and walk over to ask to borrow my sisters boyfriend or I could drop out.
Kai would let me ask Thomas to be my partner but I did not want the first thing I said to my sister in weeks to be me asking to borrow her man. I sit down in the closest seat and drop my head in my hands, today was not going how I wanted it to at all.
Kai and I were supposed to do this together, neither of us really cared about winning but it was supposed to be a laugh and something we could do with mom since she missed out on her chance to be miss mystic, apparently uncle Stefan had fallen off his bunny diet and almost ate her. So I wanted to do it for her but I wanted to do it with my sister.
"Belle?" I look up to see Jed staring down at me, "Jed?" He sits beside me, "shouldn't you be getting ready for dance rehearsal it's any minute now."
"I don't have a partner." I shrug leaning back in my seat, "oh right your boyfriend is in recovery."
"He's not my boyfriend." I huff before turning to Jed, "well I'm free if you don't mind me being your escort?" I barely think it over and nod, "I'd like that." He grins and gets up holding his arm out for me after bowing stupidly as though I were a princess. I giggle and take his arm laughing loudly as he pulls me up and we begin running towards the hall.
We get thrown a few glares as we arrive slightly later than everyone else but we slip in easily and try not to laugh as we stand across from each other. "Stop it Jed we have to take this seriously I want to win."
"Why?" I shrug as we walk around in circles our hands midair almost touching but not quite. "Just to prove I can."
"So we can't have any fun?" He asks, "it depends on what you mean by fun." I say smiling as he raises his brows, "so if I were to..." he doesn't finish his sentence, instead he steps forward and then lifts me and spins me around and around until we're both dizzy. We get scolded of course but I can't find it in me to care, not when we're both laughing like we used to when everything was good.

"After that atrocity of a rehearsal I'd say your chances of winning dropped to 70%" I laugh as Lizzie has come to gloat, "have you seen Landon dance? No matter what I'll still be above him." I say making her smile drop, "that stupid gremlin."
"Lizzie!" I laugh at her words, "anyways why are you back with Jed?" I look at her and shrug, "I'm not back with him." She gives me a hard stare, her I don't believe you look. "We're not!" I persist.
"You're looking at him through rose coloured glasses again, I can tell when you look at him a certain way, you're reminiscing good times. But as your favourite cousin who loves you very much I feel as though I should remind you of all the bad times or least reasons why you're not together anymore."
