"Bella come on uncle Ric called an emergency assembly." I groan rolling over in my bed, I had already gotten comfortable for bed and I was not gonna change out of my Pjs, this was a boarding school we all saw each other in our nightwear anyways. "Fine, but I was actually very tired from-" she sends me a small smirk as she cuts me off, "from Jed." I roll my eyes and push her shoulder, "shut up."

"For ten years we've gone undetected. Protecting you, protecting our secret has been our singular mission." Uncle Ric tells us all, "Tonight I need your help to find Landon Kirby... before he exposes us all." I roll my eyes as everyone else begins to whisper to each other in shock, I mean Landon seemed like a harmless townie to me.
As everyone disperses after the assembly, I stay behind a second to talk to my mom, "mom is it really that serious?" I ask wanting to know if uncle Ric was just being a bit dramatic, "um I don't actually know to be honest, he seems like a harmless kid to me, maybe just a bit lost and confused but he does know our secrets so." She shrugs, "right, but do you think he would actually expose us?" She shrugs again, "I mean he loves Rafael and so I doubt he would wanna cause him any distress by exposing the supernatural but you never know what people are gonna do." I nod, "ok, goodnight mom." She sends me a soft confused smile, "you're going to bed already?" She asks seeming a bit shocked, "yeah, I'm pretty tired out." I mumble, "from the party?" I nod, "from the party." With our mom Kaiara and I, we had like 90% honesty with each other, mostly because mom was cool and understanding and actually helped with our problems but also because she worked at the school and so she could hear some of the rumours.
"Alright, goodnight baby." She tells me giving me a kiss on the head as I wrapped my arms around her. Mom was a very warm and comforting person, it's why everyone at school loved her, she was extremely empathetic and understanding but she was also very maternal and so for students who were homesick at times she was the best person to go and see.
Although she was only Kaiara's and I's mom she acted like a mom to everyone because she just cared about everyone.
When I walk outside to find Kaiara I'm a bit shocked to watch josie try and burn Penelope's hair off. I had to admit it was pretty entertaining to watch her scream and freak out but I just turned around and went to my room not wanting to get involved.
As I was walking I ended up bumping into someone, "oh sorry." I apologise looking up to see Rafael, "sorry." He mumbles seeming a bit out of it. "Hey are you ok?" I ask noticing the worry on his face, "Um not really." He shrugs, well I want expecting him to be honest but I did want to help. "Is it about Landon?" He nods, "he- He's not a bad person he wouldn't expose us or hurt anyone." I nod, "I believe you." I tell him, "you do?" He asks me surprised, "yeah, you're the only one who actually knows him out of all of us, and don't worry tomorrow we'll find him and then he can just explain what happened, it could all just be a misunderstanding, we don't know." Rafael smiles at me seeming relived, "right yeah, thank you." I shake my head, "no worries, see you tomorrow." He nods, "see you tomorrow."
As we part ways I notice Jed down the hallway coming my way, I begin to panic internally as I realise his eyes were on me, I could not speak to him right now or else I'd totally cave. "Invisique." I mumble smirking at the surprise on his face.

The next morning was match day, both Kaiara and I were on the football team because the aim was to lose anyways so we didn't really have to play it was just to make the townies make themselves feel good about themselves which sucked. Kaiara went to go and grab breakfast with Lizzie and Josie whereas I was walking Hope to the car because she was going on the Landon hunt today.
"So you fell for the townie that robbed us and ran away? And you make fun of my taste." Hope rolls her eyes, "shut up Bella," she sighs until we reach the car to find a figure beneath it. "Hello?" I question making the person roll out to reveal Rafael, "Hey." He sighs, "What are you doing?" Hope asks him as he slides back under, "Adjusting the sway bar." Hope and I share a glance, "Was it broken?" We then hear the metal creak and snap, "It is now." He tells us getting out from under the car and showing us the seat bar. "You're going after Landon. If you want this car to work, I'm going with you." He tells us, "You should stay out of it. He's a liar and a thief." Hope tells him angry, "He took a stupid knife." Rafael tries to defend, "Nothing in this school is a stupid anything." She replies quickly, "Look. He's my best friend. And you? You seem vengeful."
"Let me show you something." She says taking a step towards him and holding her hands up to his face, he moves back slightly not sure what she's doing, "Close your eyes." She instructs he listens and she shows him whatever Landon has supposedly done, "What the hell was that?" He asks panting as he jerks away, "Your best friend did that to a bus full of people on Route last night, and I am the only one who knows how to find him, so give me the engine thingy." I sigh knowing the two of them were too hard headed, "No." he says standing his ground, "I have actual magic powers." She threatens taking a step towards him, "And I have a long history of anger issues." He tells her in the same tone.
"Ok how about we all take a second to calm down." I say getting between the two trying to ease the tension "yes Landon took the knife, but we don't know why he did that so until we find out, you guys need to relax."
"He can come." Thank god uncle Ric came just at the right time, "What?" Hope asks him incredulously, "He knows Landon; he'll be an asset. And we need all the help we can get, so fix the car and hop in." Hope rolls her eyes and moves to get in, "bye." I tell the three, "bye, remember to try your best today." Uncle Ric tells me nodding at my jersey, "and by try your best you mean try your worst?" I ask making him smile, "exactly, have fun out there." He says as he gets into the car, "we never have fun." I mumble thinking of the stupid townies that loved to harass us. "And you keep your calm." I tell Hope through the open window, "you too." I roll my eyes but grin at Rafael before running off to get to the field.
