Josie, Rafael and Kaleb won the election which was surprising as I didn't even know that the three had been running, Rafael was also alpha now, he beat Jed up badly apparently and Jed in turn retaliated by beating poor defenceless Landon up and then running away.
Also speaking of poor defenceless Landon he'd been voted to leave the school, I felt kinda bummed for him, he had no where to go, he should've been allowed to stay since he wasn't human it didn't matter that we didn't know what he was, I also get bummed for Raf, Landon was his brother and I knew I'd be dying if Kaiara had to leave and I knew that she had no where to go.
But all of that was irrelevant today since it was Lizzie and Josie's birthday, which had started of kinda bad since they found out that aunt caroline wasn't coming.
Everyone was off doing their own things as Kaiara and I were looking for our mom, we'd literally been around the whole school to no avail, "hey uncle Ric do you know where my mom is?" I ask as we walk into his office to find him sat with a dark haired and blue eyed woman, she looked familiar. "Oh sorry." Kaiara says as she realises they were having a discussion that seemed to be important, "uh yeah, she had to go into town to get a few things." I nod, this was a bit awkward. "Ric who are these girls?" The lady asks standing from her seat, "hey you're aunt Josie right?" I ask recognising her from the pictures, she nods but seems a bit confused, "we're Thea Gilbert's daughters." I tell her watching realisation flood her face.
"You're my brothers kids?" She asks a smile making its way to her face as we nod, "I'm Arabella." Her smile seems to grow if possible, "he always liked that name." She hums, "and I'm Kaiara." Kie says a bit star struck, "after Kai?" We nod again, "how is he?" She asks happy at the thought he got a happy ending with a family. "Dead." I shrug, wincing as Kaiara whacks me as aunty Jo's face drops, "He died?" She asks seeming really sad at the news, I notice how uncle Ric looks uncomfortable, like he was hiding something but I shrug it off he was probably just acting weird because his dead almost wife wasn't dead anymore.
"What was he like when you were growing up?" Kaiara questions hopefully, she always wanted to know more about him, "well there was a time when Kai was a great brother, we were close, and he looked out for me like a proper older brother." Kaiara and aunt Jo grin but I roll my eyes, "and then he became a sociopath who stabbed you with a hunting knife?" Both of the grins falter as they look at me, "yes, he um did do that but your mother she showed your father love something that he had never experienced before, and he changed, all he needed was love." This time it's me who falters, aunt jo was his sister she knew him way better than anyone, if she could forgive dad for what he did then maybe he did change.
"He never had love in his life?" I ask her confused, she looks away slightly ashamed, "my father, your grandfather, he didn't like Kai very much as we were growing up, he believed that Kai being siphon made him an abomination, and he was convinced he could make Kai a normal witch, even if he had to beat the siphoning out of him." My eyes widen, "beat?" What the hell, grandad used to beat dad up when he was a kid? "I didn't know what was going on properly, we thought it was Kai who isolated himself and became withdrawn but it was my dad keeping him away from the rest of us." Mom had never told us any of this.
