Chapter 1
(Avery's Point of View)
(5 years later)
The warm yellow glow of the sun cascaded through my room as I laid on my bed. My hair was wildly spread along my pillow. It stuck to my everything like static cling. My arms laid by my side as I thought about everything that has happened so far in my life. It has been five years, five freaking years since I had been living with my grandparents. Do not get me wrong I have enjoyed living with them, though. They had a nice calm peaceful life; nothing really hectic ever happened around here. The only thing though is I wish I got to see more of my parents. They only come once a year, but if I am lucky they might show up one extra time.
I have always had a little green monster filled with envy living in me whenever I heard somebody talk about there parents. They were lucky because there parent's never had to leave them for some job in another state. I especially hated when the whiny little brats in my school would complain about how mean there parent's where for not letting them go to the party or how they there parents refused to buy them something. I mean come on just get over yourself! At least you have parents who you get to see all year around! You should be thankful not whining.
Thinking about the topic of parents just makes me miss mine even more than I already did. I still don't fully understand why they went to a new state and got a new job, but left me behind. The question bothers me to bits, but there is nothing I can do about it. In the end it is ultimately my parents decision.
Lost in thought I stared at my ceiling looking at the small cracks in the right corner and looking at all the uneven paint spots. I don't know exactly how long I had zoned out, but my phone started blaring which is the reason for me awakening from my trance. I rolled off my bed, which ended in me crashing onto my floor and jumped to my feet. I hurried to my I-phone on my dresser.
Once I had reached my dresser I wasted no more time in snatching my I-phone. Once it was in my grasp I checked the caller ID to see was calling me at this time. A smile lit up my face as I read the name, Layla, one of my crazy best friends.
"Hey!" I answered.
"Happy birthday, birthday girl! I can't believe your finally 18!" She squealed through the other line.
"Thanks." I replied laughing at her excitement. "I can't believe it either. Time fly's by so fast. I mean lets be real here it feels like I just turned 17."
"Oh I know what you mean. Time truly does fly by so fast, but now you are finally the same age as Stella, Kylie and me. I am so excited!" She exclaimed. I could just feel her radiating all her energy and happiness through the phone.
"Yeah, to be honest through I don't even feel any older. I guess what they say is true about how age is just a number." I replied honestly.
"Yep, so are you planning on doing anything tonight?"
"Nope, just going to stay home and chill. I had my cake and ice cream earlier. So I am pretty content right now."
"That is perfect! You better be ready by six the girls and I are coming to pick you up. Dress in something really cute, but hot. For your birthday the girls and I have all decided to take you to that brand new club that opened up. I can't wait!" She squealed. could literally picture Layla jumping up and down in her room right at thins moment.
"Layla, do we have to go? You know clubs are not really my thing." I whined.
"Yes dear, you are totally going. I already made reservations and plus I am sure you can woo a few hot boys with your sexy dance moves. I mean you are captain of the dance team this year and last year we got second place. We can't be to bad now can we?" She laughed, excitement evident in her voice.
"Layla you make it so hard to say no to you sometimes." I told her playfully scowling at her through the phone, even though she couldn't see it.
"That is what makes me so great. It would be best you would remember that now." She teased me.
"Yep, you keep thinking that. Whatever helps you sleep at night." I teased right back at her.
"Whatever your just jealous. Anyway I have to go get ready. Bye." She responded.
"Bye loser."
"HEY!!!" I heard her scream, before I hung up on her.
All my friends can be so annoying at times, but you just got to love them. Truthfully, I do not know what I would do without them. They are truly something else, especially Layla. I was actually pretty excited to go to the club, but I would never admit that to any of the girls because they would never let it down. Then the next thing I know they would probably take me clubbing every weekend. I would get pretty tired of it pretty fast.

The clock struck six. Lucky for me, my timing was perfect. I had just finished getting ready. I slipped on my black high heels and hurriedly walked down the stairs to the door.
My hair was pulled up in an elegant, but messy bun. My make up was done with pale, pink lipstick I had put on some mascara, eyeliner, and a light pink blush. I used my blush to highlight my cheek bones and put the mascara and eyeliner on as a kind of bad ass look.
My dress was a tan ruffled blouse with small brown dots scattered around the shirt. Attached to the blouse was a leather skirt with zippers helping with my bad ass look. I wore my outfit with black high heels.
Just as I was about to reach the front door I hear a car beeping and my best friend Stella is screaming through a mega phone "Avery Taylor get your ass out here!"
I laughed and ran out the door and jumped into Kylie's black jeep. We soon took off to the club.
Layla was jumping up and down in her seat. "I cannot believe we are actually going to club Spin wheel, the hottest club in town.
When we finally got there I basically jumped out of Kylie's jeep wanting to give my ears a break from Layla's talkative mouth.
I must admit I was really excited for this tonight I thought as we stood in line waiting to get in.
