Chapter 7 (Mason)

Chapter 7

(Mason's Point of View)

As the episode of SpongeBob ended, I heard her breathing soon even out letting me know she was asleep. I looked down at her sleeping form, she looked like an angel and all I wanted to do was hold her closer, but I knew I shouldn't get to attached because she would become a weakness of mine that people can use against me and I knew I could not put her in any more trouble than she is already in.

I pulled out my Iphone carefully, so I would not wake up Avery. I quickly sent a text to my brother, Mark to let him know where I was, so he would not get worried and send a search party for me. The next thing I know I hear a knock at the door. I gently carried Avery in my arms careful not to wake her.

I know I probably should have put her down on the couch, but I felt safer with her in my arms. The knock came again only louder. Then I heard, "GOSH DARN'T MASON, OPEN UP." At that moment I knew it was Mark to see if I was really here.

I felt Avery shift a little in my arms at the sound of his voice, but soon became still again. I opened the door to see my brother standing there with an angry expression on his face, probably from not opening the door, but then as quickly as he looked at me a smirk grew on his face and I swore I saw a smile tugging at his lips. I gave him a confused look, until I realized why he was smirking. It was because I had Ave in my arm all snuggled up to me.

"Did you score some points today little brother?" asked Mark, who was still smirking.

"Shut up Mark." I whisper yelled, so badly wanting to smack that smirk off his face.

"That is certainly no way to treat your older brother Mason, and uh can I come in or are you just going to stand here all day and be mean to your guest." he quietly replied back.

"Sure come in," I whispered, cradling Ave in my arms as I went back to the couch and gently set her down.

I stood up sitting across from Avery next to my brother, so she would not be able to hear as well, if she happened to start waking up and the TV would help block out some of our whispers. I also wanted her in my sight to, just in case something where to happen I would be here.

"Mason, I need to talk to you about Alberto." Mark whispered

"What about him?" I asked feeling anger start to boil in me for knowing he wanted Avery.

"Well, I found out some news of what Mr. and Mrs. Taylor are in charge of. They are in charge of guarding two really rare purple rocks that are extremely hard to find and when it is crushed the particles of the rock form a powdery substance that helps create a powerful bomb that is known to create a huge disaster.

"I see now, well that makes a lot more since now, but what does Alberto have to do with this I asked?"

"Well, you see they stole these rocks from him to stop him from creating the bomb and he wants the rocks back, but since they refused to give it to him he wants revenge and we found out that he has a new guy he hired to do some of his dirty work, but nobody knows who he is."

"That is definitely not good; I will keep an eye out now."

"So what’s up with you and Avery, I have never seen you get close to a mission." Mark smirked

"NOTHING MARK!" I replied

"Defensive about her are we?"

"No, I just um uh have to keep a better watch on her than I had to the rest."

"Did you just stutter, did my little brother stutter?" He asked sarcastically

"Shut up Mark."

"Whatever bro, look I got to go, nice chatting with you."

"Yeah, you too, well, see yeah and lock the door on your way out!"

I quickly went back to sleeping Avery's side and gently pulled her close to me.

(Marks Point of View)

"Okay" I called back.

I looked over my shoulder and at my brother Mason. I could tell he really cared for this girl whether he was willing to admit it yet. I saw him gently move her back over to his side and stared at her adoringly as she slept soundly on him.

As walked out the door and locked it like king Tut over there demanded; I realized I had yet to meet her when she was awake, so I texted my brother to bring her over for a movie night. He replied back quickly with a sure.

I shoved my phone into my back pocket. I wondered when I would ever meet someone who I would look at like that, but I realized it was going to be impossible innless I quit my job. I really did not want to, but with that thought on my mind I quickly drove off and turned up the music in my car and jammed out!
