Chapter 29
(Avery's Point of View)
I stared at the walls, since there is not much you can do when your tied up and bored to death. It doesn't help I was locked in a room by myself. A soft sigh had escaped from my lips as I began to zone out. I missed him, I truly missed Mason. Right now there is no other place I'd rather be than in his warm embrace.
The door was ripped open. The door squeaked in protest as it was slammed shut. I jerked my head to the side to see him. It was Jake. I quickly looked away not wanting to see his face. I still felt a bit of betrayal because of what he did.
"Look Avery, I just wanted to let you know Mason has called and he is giving us the rocks, so you will be set free soon." He told me.
As he was about to walk away I asked the one question that he still never bothered to answer. "Why?'
He looked at me "Why what?"
"Don't play dumb with me Jake. Why did you do this?" I spoke trying not to let the hurt seep through my voice.
He looked at me for a moment before he began to speak. "I want to quit and in order to quit you must do one final mission and this was my mission."
"Why do you want to quit?" I asked before I could stop myself.
He looked at me for the first time with a genuine smile on his face. His eyes looked sort of glazed over. " I fell in love." He stated simply. "I never wanted her to be in any danger and I knew if I continued heading in this direction it wouldn't be safe for her."
I looked over at him for a minute he wasn't as bad as I thought. He obviously really liked this girl. "What's her name?" I asked softly liking how I had someone to talk to.
"Her name is Ella." He said
"What is she like?" I questioned not wanting him to leave me alone and die of boredom.
"She is stunningly beautiful. She has dirty blond hair that I love running my fingers through. Her smile always makes my day. She has the glow of an angel and the body of a model. She is so adorable an innocent." he replied looking like he was in a trans.
"She sounds beautiful. Where is she now?" I asked enjoying seeing this side of him.
His face suddently turned angry. "Alberto has men watching her. Just incase they need to get to me somehow. I swear if he hurts a hair on her head i'll kill him with my bare hands."
"Help me escape please Jake!" I begged him. "I know your not that terrible of a person to do this Jake."
"I would Avery, but if this goes wrong Ella's life is on the line."
I really wanted to get out of here and I knew Jake was the key part to help me escape. "Jake would you want someone to help Ella escape if she where is my position?"
"Yes, I would, but I would not want to risk her life even more than it already is because I chose to help you." He exclaimed.
I knew then that I had hit a major button for Jake. He could pretend all he wants, but I knew he was close to helping me. I just had to push a few more buttons and he would be done. "If you don't help me they will put you in jail and you won't be able to protect Ella." I commented quietly, but loud enough so he would hear me.
His eyes stared off into space for a moment before he replied to me. "Fine I'll help you, but not now Alberto should be home any minute now he went out to visit a friend."
Just as he had spoken those words I heard a car pull up near the house. Next came what sounded like the slamming of the car doors and a beep which signaled the lock of the car.
