Chapter 26
(Mason's Point of View)
I was near the backstage. I could see everything that was going on. I watched her dance with such grace, beauty, and passion. She looked stunning out there. At that moment I was extremely proud to be called her boyfriend. She was amazing. I never will understand how lucky I am to have got such an amazing girl.
As the dance continued I watched from the sidelines. I was as close as the dumb security guards would let me be to the stage. They told me that if I got any closer than the judges would be able to see me and my image in there dance would take away from there performance and might distract the judges. I thought it was a load of bull, but at least I was close to the stage.
As I was watching the dance I felt a presence of another human come up behind me. I was about to turn around when the power went off. Shit, I thought to myself this is not good. I started to panick. I started jogging as careful as I could to the stage. trying my best not to trip over unseen objects in the dark. I needed to reach Avery and now.
As I got closer I heard something that sounded like a panick mummble. The worse part was it sounded like it was coming from Avery. I was freaked. This was not supposed to happen. I thought I had everything under control. an uneasy feeling took over my stomach. I felt my instincts kick in trying to tell me something was wrong with Avery.
"Avery, Avery!" I yelled.
As I tried to run faster to her I felt a blow to my head. I fell on impact and crashed into the ground. My head banged into the floor. I groaned in pain. Ignoring the pain I turned on the Bluetooth in my ear and called for backup.
"Guys I need backup!" I yelled into the Bluetooth even though the guy behind me could probably hear me. Right now that was the very least of my worries.
I started to get back up. So I could catch up to Avery when I felt somebody shove me back down. I groaned and quickly spun around jumped up and took a blind swing in the dark. I felt some skin to skin contact with my fist and at that moment I knew I had nailed someone right in the face. I heard the loud crack noise that came after the blow I had just delivered.
Then a loud thump sounded came not to long after my blow indicating that the person had just crashed against the floor. I Knelt down checking his pulse to see if he was still alive. His pulse was faint, but still there meaning I had just knocked him out. I grabbed the rope used to tie the red velvet curtain and ties his hands and feet together in a double not so he would not be able to escape when he became conscious again. I then saw a tint of green on his eye it looked to be some kind of glasses.
I put them on my face to see what they where. When I was looking through them everything looked green, but clear. I then clicked it my mind what they were. They had to be night vision goggles. I adjusted the length of the straps to fit my head and ran trying to find where he could have taken here.
I quickly pressed the Bluetooth in my ear to talk to the other agents here.
"Guys, where is Avery? I am on the stage now."
"Mason, this is Mark, we are outside now Adam is checking the security cameras now. We don't see any sign of her Mason they must have taken her when everyone started to evacuate the building."
"This is horrible. No, no, no this was not supposed to happen. We have to find her like pronto." I exclaimed.
"Mason, this is Adam. I searched through the video cameras it seems Marks theory was 100% correct."
"Adam do you know what route this car took?" I asked trying to stay as calm as possible.
"It looks like it took route seven and made a left. That is about as far as this video camera will show."
"Can you tell me what the car looked like? Any detail that might stand out?"
"Well Mason there is a guy carring her, he has dark black hair and from what I can see some tatoos. This guy carried her into a white van and licence plate number is jeq-1849."
"Alright I am coming up to the security room to look for some clues. Can you tell me where the security camera room is I am still on the stage."
"Okay Mason, first make a left off of the stage. Next walk all the way up to the doors that lead to the public hallway. Now when you turn to your right there is a set of stairs. Are you with me so far?"
"Yeah I am. I can see the stairs from where I am standing."
"Perfect, now go up the stairs and the first door on your right is where I am at. Mark also came up here too. Just to let you know."
"I see it. I am coming in." I responded I quickly turned the brass door knob on the wooden open and stepped into the room. I then made sure to shut the door and locked it. I walked into the room where Mark and Adam where.
"Hey Mason, I see you made." Adam said then spun around in the chair to talk to me. He then paused and stared at my face for a while. "Are those night vision goggles dude? Those are so cool Mason. Where the heck did you manage to get them from?"
"They where on some guy I beat up that tried to knock me out. He is laying on the floor unconscious right now. We should probably call some backup to get him in jail so we can have him answer some questions we might have. The guy might be able to answer them."
"I will go call them right now. Adam can show you the video footage we got." Mark told me. With that Mark walked outside to the hallway to call some extra agents to bring a van with a cell in the back.
"Alright here it is." Adam then started hitting a bunch of random buttons on the control panel till he went back to when the accident happened.
I sat in the black leather chair next to Adam and leaned my head on my left hand. I sat and watched the parking lot for a minute. Nothing was happening for a minute. A red small chevy car pulled into the parking lot along with a white van. Five people all dressed in black got out of both cars. One person from what I could tell stayed in the driver seat of each car. Those must have been there get away guys.
The five people separated and went into a different direction. Two of the guys went down to where the power supply was and the other three went to the stage where Avery was dancing. They knocked out the agent that was blocking the other exit and went in.
The parking lot stayed still for another minute until the red small Chevy car pulled up to where the power supply door was and the two men exited out the door and jumped into the car. It then sped out of the parking lot going down route seven and made a left. It was then quite again.
Not even ten seconds later the white van sped up to where the exit door was another person who was all dressed in black that I had not seen in the passenger seat, then had gotten out and opened the vans two back doors. The stage's exit door had then opened.
At that point of time Mark then burst through the door so Adam had to pause it.
"Guys, I called for backup to come and I also informed the boss, who then informed Avery's parents. I was told to tell you that they are sending back up and our on there way. Avery's parents are not taking the news well though." Mark explained to us. "While I was talking to them they had gotten a call from Alberto saying basically that they have her and to give them what they want and she will be returned safely. They said we had twenty four hours to do it or else they will start to harm her.
I was fuming by the end of what Mark had told me. How dare they think about causing any harm to here I will persnally kill everyone of them if they even hurt a hair on her head.
"Mark we have to get her back. We have to find her and I think I know how."
"Well go, on tell us." Mark replied.
"Remember when we called our buddy Andrew in to install that tracker in Avery and in her phone?"
"Yes I do! That is a brilliant idea. All we have to do is call ANdrew and get him to come over here so we can find her and get her back in less than twenty four hours before they start doing harm."
"Exactly what I was thinking. Now let me finish watching this video so I can pick up any clues I can find that would help me."
"Okay lets watch this thing." Mark replied.
Adam then hit a few a buttons and the video footage started to play from where it left off. The stage's exit door opened and only two of the three men that entered came out. The third one must be the guy I knocked out. One of the men came out holding Avery bridal style. She was passed out. I could tell that they probably drugged her do to the cloth in his hand. The weird thing was that the guy caring her looked oddly familiar. I watched this guy closely as he passed Avery to both guys already in the van.
He was the last one to get in the van. He turned around quickly to shut both doors while in the van and then is when I got an extremely good look at him. Then the truth hit me fool force.
"No freaking way its him. It can't be." I stated utterly shocked and frozen in place. My mind wondering around one question and that was why.
