Chapter 14
(Avery's Point of View)
I was still trying to comprehend everything that Mason had just told me. It was all just a huge over whelming shock to me, nothing I would have ever expected.
Like to be honest, who would even think that their parents were secret agents working for the government and that a gang leader was after them. See what I mean, it's quite a lot to take in.
"Are you almost done in there Ave?" Mason asked from outside my door.
"Yeah hold on just give me another minute!" I called back.
Mason wanted to come in with me just to make sure nothing happened to me while I am at my home. He told me it was because know that I know about my parents and about Alberto I am in even more danger.
He is extremely protective of me now. I have to ask him or talk to him about something before I can do it. It gets annoying, but it’s kind of sweet in a way.
I walked out of my room ready to go and opened the door to run right into Mason.
"Oomph!" I said
'Are you okay there?" he chuckled
"I think I am, but man what do you eat for breakfast? Did it happen to be steel?" I asked
"Nope that was yesterdays today I ate Iron." He laughed
I had to laugh and that one. We walked to the car together and Mason intertwined our fingers together.
Once we got in the car Mason asked me where we should go to eat. In the end we both ended up agreeing on McDonald's. When we finally got to McDonald's Mason rushed over to my side of the door an opened it like a gentle man.
"Why thank you." I laughed as I got out of the car.
"You are quite welcome." He laughed back.
As we were walking into McDonald's, Mason grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers together. I loved the feel of his hands with mine I thought. Wait, whoa were did that come from I got to stop thinking like that he is my bodyguard or whatever for goodness sakes. My goodness what is wrong with me. We soon reached the counter.
"Hello how may I help." they guy at the register asked.
The guy working at the counter was clearly checking me out. His intense gaze made me kind of uncomfortable and actually kind of flattered that he thought I looked good. I then felt Mason squeeze my hand a little tighter and he looked like he was trying to calm down.
Wonder what’s wrong with him, but dang he looks good angry. Oh my goodness I need to stop thinking about him like that! Ughh I am so frustrated at myself I cannot even think straight.
"Can I get a Cheeseburger and I want the combo, what about you Ave." he asked.
"Oh, um, can I get a grilled chicken wrap and I want the combo too" I said
"Coming right up your total is $8.30." he said
I watched as the worker printed out the receipt. He quickly scribbled something down and went in the backroom to tell the cooks about the order. When he came back he handed us our meals, which Mason took and gave me the receipt.
The worker winked at me and I started to blush. I felt Mason grip on my hand tighten even more. We started walking back to his car. I looked down at the receipt in my hand and I my face turned bright red.
"Why is your face so red, he chuckled, are you blushing?"
Something must have clicked in that brain of his somewhere because he looked down at the receipt I was holding and took it from my hands. He looked like he was ready to explode.
