Chapter 5
School seemed to be passing by quickly. I was in my last class for the day, English and I could not wait to get home! I usually zoned out during English class or just talked to Mason who was sitting right next to me. Over the past few days we seemed to become closer and I have to admit he was not as bad as I thought he was at first.
"You know, he said, time is not going to speed up any faster by looking at the clock."
"Really, damn I was praying it would." I said sarcastically
"Yeah, sorry!" Mason replied back
I just laughed and gave him a light shove on the shoulder.
"Whatever."
DING DING DING
Yes, finally I thought, school was officially over. I got out of my chair and started heading for my locker.
"Whoa, slow down there Ave, what's got you running out of English class like a dare devil?" he asked in a teasing tone.
"Hahaha, very funny Mason, but if you must know I am escaping this living night mare we have to go to for 5 days a week."
"Interesting, mind if I join you?"
"Please, by all means, be my guest." I laughed.
When we finally reached my locker I quickly put my books away, zippered up my North Face and slung my backpack over my right shoulder. When I finished Mason was just shutting his locker door which was right next to mine. After he was completely finished what he had to do we walked to Mason's car. After him driving me home from school the one day it was just becoming a habit for him to drive me home from school and drive me to school.
We finally reached his car and I got into the passenger seat, while he climbed into the driver's seat and started to take off to our houses.
'Hey, I am bored." he exclaimed
"And?" I asked
"Well, do you want to do something?" he asked
"Sure, what do you have in mind?" I asked curiously
"What about a game of 20 questions to get to know each other better."
"Sounds good to me."
"Alright then, but I go first because I thought of it." he said
"Really?" I asked
"Really" He responded
"Okay then, go ahead."
"What's your favorite color?"
"Blue, I responded and yours?"
"Red, favorite drink?"
"Lemonade, how about you?"
"Sprite!"
When he finally pulled up in front of my house we sat there a little longer asking random questions about each other until his phone went off letting him know he got a text.
His eyes got wide for a second before they went back to normal.
"Are you okay, is something wrong?" I asked my voice full of concern
"I am okay, uh nothing's wrong I just was not expecting a text from an old friend of mine till uh later." he replied.
"Okay well, I should probably get going, I will see you tomorrow?"
"Yeah, see yeah."
HIs voice sounded a little distant, but I just ignored it and got out of the car and headed to my front door. I watched as he pulled into his drive way.
