Jiddah's POV

The thunder is striking and the rain is falling in heavy drops. Bikes are moving faster, the pedestrians are looking for a shade so they don't get wet, some were using umbrellas. While others are rushing to reach their destination, I'm not sure if I'm ready to Look into Goggo's eyes.

The rain washed away my tears as I sluggishly walked under the rain savouring the feeling and cool breeze blowing my hijab, just realized how much I've been longing to be here once again. Maryam has been crying since the rain started falling, I hope she doesn't catch cold.

"Baiwar Allah" A man waved at me from his car, "Barin rage miki hanya ko, so that your baby won't get sick" he offered to give me a ride, "No, don't worry thank you" I wiped my face. "Please come in I'm not a monster" he laughed, some people laugh at very small things, maybe I think so because I don't have many reasons to laugh. I was hesitant at first but later agreed, I don't want my Daughter to get sick though she's been on my back, we've been walking under the rain for almost 20minutes and no one cared to help.

He unlocked the back door for and I entered, to my utmost surprise there was a woman in the front sit, maybe I didn't see her because it's dark. "Thank you....Ina...wu...ni" I greeted, "Lafia qalau, sannu baiwar Allah, Ina zakije?" The woman asked. "

"Ehmm...gidan goggo na zanje" I said....and I realized it didn't make any sense. "Sorry I mean, layin kwabo kusada gidan Fatu Mai danwake" I said. "Do you know the place?" The man who offered to help asked her, she's his wife, I guess.

"I know the woman but I don't know her house, her Dan wake is very popular" she said, "foodie" he laughed. "Can u direct us?" He asked. "Yes I can. Thank you."
"Never mind, so are you also from this village?" The woman asked. "No, my Mom is" I whispered. "Okay, did you come to visit her?" She asked again. "No, I'm going to my Aunty's place" I said. "How about your Husband?" She asked but this time around I didn't give her an answer cause I don't what to tell her. "Baby na can you please stop with the interrogation" he said to her. "Okay" she replied.

I kept rubbing Maryam's feet to make her feel warm while I give them direction to my Goggo's house.

"It's there, after that mango tree" I said putting maryam on my shoulder. "Okay we've arrived" he said stopping the car. "Nagode sosai, Allah ya saka da alkhairi" I said with tears in my eyes. "Ba komai wallahi, May Allah ease your affairs" she said with a smile on her face, I wasn't surprise she made that Du'a. "Ameen, Nagode" "Nagode" I said to her husband who looks familiar before exiting the car. There are still good people in this world.

Fresh tears rushed from my eyes as I walked toward the Door, I pushed the wooden door revealing the inside of the house, I walked into the compound, my view was blury because of the tears that brimmed in them, everything was still positioned the way they used to be, the big drum for water, the small kitchen for making meal for the small family, just realized how much I've been longing to be here once again, this poor family means everything to me, this small house is way better than the luxurious home I left and at that moment I realized I have no regrets About what Happened few hours ago, it was just an opportunity to build up a new life.

"Who is there?" A familiar voice asked directing a flash light to my face. "Who is there?!" She asked yet louder and moved forward. "Jidda?" She asked not sure, I burst into a loud cry, I couldn't say anything, "Jidda" She whispered my Name her voice carrying various emotions.

"Let's go inside" She said, We went inside the room. "Bring her here" she said and I gave Maryam to her. She changed maryam's cloth and rubbed menthol on her chest and and forehead. All this while, I was sitted adjacent to her with my chin placed on my left hand.

"Jiddah what Happened, lafia da cikin daren nn?" She asked with a shaky voice, I guess she already knows. "Goggo ya sakeni" I cried, "What did you do to him, why will he divorce you just like that?" Is she trying to put the blame on me?, Can't she see the situation I'm in right now. "I didn't do anything to him Goggo, he beat me up because of his wife and divorced, he insulted me and didn't allow me to carry anything, he said I shouldn't carry even a pair of cloth since I did not bring any from my father's house" I said panting.

"Take heart Jidda, Allah yana tare da Mai hakuri, Where did you get the transportation fare?" she asked. "I went to Doctor Zuwairah's house, she's the one that gave me, she said I should spend the night in her place but I insisted I want to come to Kano today" I sobbed.

"Did he do all this to you" she's referring to the bruises on my face and body. "Yes" I cried, I can't see well with one of my eyes because it's all swelled up. "Jiddah I'm sorry, I haven't been able to uphold the trust My sister left in my hands. I made your life miserable all in the name of saving your marriage" she wiped the tears in my face. "It's not your fault" I sobbed. "You're a Mother to me and you've been nothing but good to me all this years" I cried.

"I'm sure if you had known that this marriage won't be a success you won't have let it happen. I accept this as my Destiny, it's Allah's way of testing my patience and tawakal" I smiled. " Change your clothes and eat something, we'll talk tomorrow morning insha Allah" she said feeding Maryam.

I changed my cloth and lie down on the mat tears rolling from my eyes, "Jiddah try and eat a little before sleeping" Goggo said. "Goggo I can't, I'm not hungry" I whispered and she didn't say anything afterwards. I closed my eyes and memories of Yusuf beating and calling me all sort of names flashed through my eyes, my heart clenched and I felt tears rushing from my eyes. Ya Allah, heal my soul.
