A small afternoon. Requested

"Midoriya, focus." The little hears his caregiver sternly say as he taps the table with his pen to get his attention.

The way Iida addresses him makes him internally whine, but the green-haired boy keeps quiet since he knows it is not the time to be bratty. He murmurs out a, "sorry" as he returns to the math homework their teacher assigned them earlier that day.

The numbers and letters all blur on the page though, Izuku's brain just isn't on board with the task right now. All he wants to do is snuggle up in his caregiver's arms and watch some Toopy and Binoo. But he promised Iida he would finish his homework like a good boy.

Izuku is starting to think being a good boy isn't worth it.

Iida notices a lack of pencil scribbling from Izuku's side of the table and finds the boy staring off into space again. He sighs, snapping his fingers in front of Izuku's freckled face and the little finally wakes out of his trance.

They don't say anything for a moment, simply staring at each other. Iida's gaze analyzes the boy in front of him, and Izuku tries his best not to stick his fingers in his mouth for comfort.

"You're regressing aren't you?" Iida almost sounds disappointed.

Izuku deflates. "Sowry..." he tries to shrink into himself as best he could, but he perks up at Iida's firm head shake.

"Don't apologize." Iida softly says, setting his pen down, "it wasn't reasonable to make you do homework when you're fighting this hard to not be little. As much as I'd love to have you on a regular study schedule, your mental health is more important. C'mere."

Iida opens his arms, and Izuku scuttles into them just as quickly. "Is there anything you want to do, little one? Something in mind?"

Izuku nuzzles his face against Iida's chest, the soft worn tee his caregiver is wearing has the faintest scent of old spice that calms the little right down, he's only able to mumble half-heartedly, "hmmm... Toopy..."

"You want to watch Toopy and Binoo?" Iida asks.

"Mhm... Toopy..." Izuku reaffirms, wrapping his arms around his caregiver's shoulders when he feels him start to shift into a standing position. An arm supporting his bottom so he can stay glued to Iida.

Iida cleans the table with one hand, all while effortlessly holding Izuku at his hip. The little watching his caregiver work with sleepy blinking eyes. When he is done he carries Izuku to the closet and pulls out a bear onesie and a diaper with a flowery print on the butt.

Izuku attempts to wiggle in delight only to squeak when he starts to slip out of his caregiver's arms.

Iida merely hoists him back onto his hip, unbothered. "Let's get you into these first, kidlet."

Iida helps Izuku dress slowly, tickling his sides to distract him from his diaper change and buttoning his onesie up afterwards. Iida watches Izuku's gaze grow more unfocused by the minute. He realizes his little was going to need a power nap before anything else.

He goes to leave Izuku on his bed so he can grab his phone off the table, only to be reeled back by a strong hand tugging his shirt. He turns to see Izuku with tears in his eyes, holding onto Iida's shirt for dear life. He was too small to understand that Iida would only be gone for a second.

"You wanted Toopy and Binoo remember?" Iida explains, separating Izuku's hand from his stretched shirt. "I need my phone for that little one."

Izuku blinks at him, not processing a word, he reaches for him again, whining loudly.

Izuku would say Iida didn't have a heart as he turns away from him. He was thinking his caregiver was leaving him!

Iida tries to be calm as he searches for his phone (which he swore was on the table), all the while hearing his little cry for him. "Daddy! Daddy!"

"I'm right here, it's okay, baby." He attempts to soothe from a distance, checking under the table to see if his phone had fallen.

But Izuku continues to cry, near wailing. He makes Iida rush and accidentally slam his head into the table from underneath, earning a grunt in the process.

His little troublemaker pauses his cries to giggle. Iida wouldn't expect anything less.

He exits from under the table with a defeated sigh, he couldn't seem to find his phone. It took maybe a second too long to realize it was in his back pocket the whole time.

He meets back with Izuku with open arms, "Your daddy is silly, you know that?" He pulls the green-haired boy into his arms, showing him his phone. "He had his phone in his pocket the whole time."

Even talking in third person couldn't help Izuku understand better. He simply stares at his caregiver with teary eyes and wet cheeks.

Iida helps clean Izuku's face before he starts up his phone. He battles with Izuku's curious fingers trying to press all the apps as he gets a Toopy and Binoo episode on.

When he finally gets it going, it's smooth sailing from then on. Izuku's eyes glue to the screen and he babbles happily. It sounds like music to Iida's ears after his little crying fit earlier.

He bounces his little boy in his lap. "My little crybaby." He murmurs affectionately.

Izuku was unbothered, his sticky little fingers reaching towards the screen again.

Iida encourages, despite pulling the phone away from his reach, "Whose that?"

"Toopy." He manages to answer Iida somehow, even with a finger in his mouth.

It told Iida, Izuku was hearing only what he wanted to hear.

But still, he praises, "That's right. Now whose that?" He points to another character on the screen.

Izuku gets more confident. "Binoo!"

He ruffles the little's ratty hair, "Right again kiddo."

He keeps engaging with Izuku for as long as the little could stay awake. He turns his phone off once Izuku's head rolls on his shoulder, little snores escaping him.

Iida situates him properly in bed, sliding a blankie as his replacement for Izuku to latch onto in his sleep. He kisses the little's forehead, "I'll see you in a few hours, buddy," he says as he tucks him in.

He doesn't expect the little to hear him, but a small smile graces Izuku's face anyway.

1061 words. Kinda short but sweet. I lost the username of the requester but I think it was along the lines of Melanie something?? Please forgive me I've got so many requests and such little time to write them and I'm frazzled.

Also, I tried to write the 'right' way, but it doesn't really suit me. Is this one-shot better to read than my other ones? If so I'll try to write in present tense more often.
