"We got so lucky," Benny sighed as they walked into the department. They couldn't watch their case at the moment. Not while they were busy doing something personal. That was a rule put in place centuries ago.

Because, well, that would just be rude.

"No, we didn't," Will put a finger up in the air. "They had chemistry before we even started to plan them getting together."

"You think they're going to make it, though?" the blond asked. He wanted them to, even with all the issues that might cause for their jobs. They seemed like a fun couple. He was sure that their friends would absolutely love them too.

"You know, Benny," Wil put an arm around his shoulders and smiled. "I really do. Now, let's see how well your dance moves have gotten."

The building where all the cupids worked was a beautiful place, full of decorations showing love, and artwork that got changed up every season. No matter what, though, they always made it look like the best romantic destination.

The best that an office setting can get, at least.

Right next door to their department in the glorious building, was the Anticupid department. Their artwork was still really nice, and their decorations as well. Will just liked their side a little bit better. It looked happier. And that's exactly what love, in all forms, should help bring in everyone.

The elevators were pretty empty today, though. They were usually jampacked right around then. There were always things to do and places to be. That's why the hallways were usually bustling too.

"I wonder where everyone is," Benny pondered.

"Oh, probably on cases or something," Will shrugged it off. "There's probably another case overload."

That's happened a few times in the past. The Cupids on duty get a bunch more cases on their desks to oversee until the wave is over. It was a little fun working on a bunch at once, but Will was starting to enjoy being able to focus on one case at a time. There was more time left to enjoy the love being spread that way. And more breaks to practice dancing!

He already had a costume ready for it. Justin was going to freak out!

"I don't think I'm really that good at this, Will," Benny gave him a shy look as they inched closer to the breakroom. "Maybe we should just go get lunch or something while we wait."

"Benny, the best way to get better is by practicing," Will led him through the halls. The emptiness made it all the more easier to navigate.

"Maybe we should practice somewhere else, then?"

"Are you afraid of someone walking in and seeing you?"

"Well, I don't know," he took a deep breath in. "I'm just so nervous about this case and you know I suck at dancing."

"Don't worry so much," Will told him. "Trust me, Benny. The best way to live life is with a smile on your face, and as naturally as possible. The rest comes in time."

"Have you always been this happy?" he asked. He swore he rarely saw the man with any other emotion. There were times when he did, but that was few and far in between.

"Yup!" he told him. "Even when I was just a pencil pusher in the 1920s. New York could be a mean place if you let it, too."

He loved his mortal life. It was great fun in a great time in America. At least, for him it was. The historians of the world might tell you otherwise. All he knew was that there wasn't a thing he regretted in his mortal life. And he was happy to try and spread that joy to others. That was why he accepted this job.
