-Airmed-
Walking busy streets on a hot summer's day, was something I wasn't too fond of but I did it for my friend. Amber was nothing more than a typical blonde Starbucks girl, while I was the shyer quiet one.
Both of us were trying to get into the USA-HA. But sadly no luck with emails. My eyes drifted off looking at the windows as if I were window shopping. I could hear Amber talking but I wasn't sure what she was saying.
"Air? Are you even listening?" I heard her snap. I finally looked at her wide-eyed.
"S-sorry." I gulped. She looked at me with half-lidded eyes and then sighed and looked down shaking her head.
"It's fine." She gave me the smile that she does when she wants to scold me. I could see her heart-shaped face behind her locks of hair. Her honey color eyes were always bright and friendly, even her ebony skin matched everything about her.
She placed her arm around me and pulled me into a small sideways hug, giving me a small shake. "I was asking if you still like it at my folks' flower shop?" Her family owned a flower shop that was barely holding on. But it was their quirks that made them not go under.
Amber's family's quirk was based on plant life. Her father was a UV lamp, while her mother could make the flowers grow ten times bigger than normal. Amber on the other hand could control the plants. While her little brother, still hasn't quite got the hang of his quirk. Ryan's quirk was more of controlling the thorns on flowers or making them grow.
I on the other hand had nothing to do with plants, so I was just watering them and running the register.
I bit the inside of my cheek. I didn't mind it, really I didn't. I needed the money but I couldn't help, helping her little brother. Every time I turn around I had to use my quirk on him. I was nothing more but a transfer healer. As my father called me a Voodoo Doll.
When Ryan was trying to get his quirk to make the thorns recede, sometimes they grow and ended up poking him. I step in and heal him, and make sure he is okay before taking care of the new wounds I received from him.
I took in a deep breath and looked up at the honey eyes and smiled. "Yeah, I like it there!" I lied. My hand subconsciously rubbed the small scars in the inner part of my palms.
Amber smiled and was about to let go of me when we heard her mother scream. Both of us darted towards it.
We were only a few builds away from their shop. Amber automatically slam the door open making the bell tremble as she ran in.
"What!?! What's wrong!?!" She shouted. I ran behind her. What I saw shattered my heart. Ryan was on the floor caked with blood and scratches all over him. My eyes searched the room, looking it over trying to figure out what happened. There was a broken vase with purple-looking flowers laying about, with a small label saying Rhododendron. I kept on looking.
Finally, my eyes landed on the wall and I gasped. On the wall was a silhouette of Ryan's small body, and the thing that was making it was cactus needles. I quickly turned my eyes back to the boy in his mother's arms.
I kneeled beside the two panicked women. "Am-amber use your vines and pull all the needles out," I ordered. She looked at me with tears staining her dark skin. "NOW" I end up shouting without thinking.
Amber nodded and moved her hand to the flowers. Quickly vines and ivies grew and moved over to Ryan. The plants wrapped around the boy and pulled out the needles all at once.
Ryan's eyes shot open and he screamed. My heart was aching for him. The hair-thin-like needles came out with blood oozing out of them. The ivies and vines quickly pulled back and went limp.
