-Airmed-

It has been a few days with Megumi, and Chisuke. I was starting to open up more with them. Megumi even got me set up with my apartment. Granted it was barren and dusty but it was something. My place, my own life. Everything is my own for once.

It was daytime when I opened the sliding glass door to let the stale air out. I was given a few things like a broom, and Shino a neighbor a few doors down, made me a drying rack for my clothes on the balcony.

What I thought was a hotel was an old apartment building. Either way, I was happy with my place. I was given a studio on the 3rd floor.

I was sweeping the wooden floor when I heard a mew. I stopped and looked around and heard it coming from the balcony. I step outside to see a tree branch close to my fencing.

I saw something move and then stop. Mew. I tried to look around the greenery. I felt something warm touch me. I felt like I was gonna jump out of my skin until I realized it belong to a tiny hand.

I looked down to see Chisuke. I squatted down to be at his level. He looked up at me and pointed at the branches. "Kitty. Ouch." I looked back at the tree. "Kitty."

I heard some rustling, and then another voice. "There you are Chisuke!" I looked behind me to find Megumi running up to grab her son. "You need to tell mommy when you leave."

She held I'm in her arms and hugged him. "Sorry, your door was open and we were visiting Shino." I smiled and shook my head.

"It's fine," I answered before looking back at the tree.

"What is it?" She asked.

"Kitty. Ouch." Chisuke answered before me. She looked at him and then looked back at the tree sliding him down to let him stand on his own.

Then I saw a grey-looking kitten sitting on a branch close to the trunk. I walked closer to the railing and tried to coxes the cat to come to me. "Here kitty." I even psss pass at it. But it didn't move only Mewed at me. I looked around and then started to crawl over the railing.

"Ai-Reiki." I heard her correct herself. "What are you doing?!" She was about to grab for me but I sprang over and landed on a branch. I heard the creaking of branched giving under my weight.

"Oh my god, Rei!" I took a step and tested the branch before moving closer to the kitten. Creek Step Creek Step Creek Step. SNAP
I felt the branch snap under my foot. My heart started to pound as I rushed to the trunk. With an oof, I looked for the cat.

And there it was a grey fluffy kitten. "Kitty?" Chisuke called out for it again. The kitten answered but didn't move. I looked closer. Its little paw was stuck between two smaller branches.

I shuffled over to it and made sure my footing wouldn't slip. I reached over and opened the crosses twigs. The kitten quickly pulled out its paw and then ran down the branch to run to my apartment.

I turned around trying to move back as well. Creek Step Creek Step Creek Step CRACK. This time I had nothing to save myself on. I could feel my body fall as gravity pulled me down.

A blur of green rushed my eyesight. I clenched my eyes closed reaching to hit the ground. I felt warm arms around me, but there was a smell. A sent that stained my mind a long time ago.

The smell of cigarettes, with hints of lavender and sage. My eyes slowly opened to dark blue eyes. A man was holding me in his arms like bridal style. With a black hood covering most of his face and a mask covering the bottom.

"Rei! Reiki!" Megumi was calling me but I was frozen. I felt my skin tingle from his touch. This time it didn't feel wrong. I didn't feel like I need to run. This time I felt butterflies in my stomach.
