-Airmed-
I was only in the hospital for one full day. Luckily one of the doctors on call was a specialist in poisons. With the Rhododendron being evergreen it was poisonous if enter the bloodstream. That Doctors quirk cancels out poisons, so I indeed was lucky that day.
I stood in front of the front door of my parent's house. My hands at my chest my nails scrapping the inner palms of my hands. As much as I didn't want to go there, this is where I lived.
I took in a deep breath and closed my eyes. Slowly the air escaped and I opened my eyes just as fast. When I opened them Serena was standing in front of me. With her hands behind her back bending slightly forward to look at me.
Without thinking I lowered my head to hide my eyes behind my hair. Her sky blue eyes stared me down with a smug smile. But it quickly disappeared and she stood up straight. With her hooded eyes, her hands moved to her sides.
"Heard you played hero, and daddy already saw your emails. He already filled them out. Mom tried to talk him out of letting you go to HA buuuuuut daddy thought it would be good for you." Her voice wasn't pleased that I was going to HA, which was her dream to go to.
She lifted her lips in disgust and then turned on her heel, about to reach for the door. I bit my lip and the air in my lungs wooshed out from my holding it.
I felt a hand on my shoulder, and my body grew stiff. I lifted my head, my eyes widen as I turned my head to see my neighbor touching me.
"Hey, Airmed! I saw you on the news! You're a hero!" Miss Tracy smiled. Quickly Serena ran by my side and grabbed my arm. She was smiling at the old lady.
"Yeah isn't she the coolest! I knew she had it in her! And did you hear? They accepted her to USA-HA!" Her face was so cheerful but her nails digging into my arm told me a different story.
"Wow? Really!?" Miss Tracy was so excited for me. Her smile and her friendly eyes made a tiny smile tug on my lips. "Good for you Airmed. I'll make sure to give you a gift when you leave for it." After that, she waved and walked back to her place.
Serena was smiling and waving goodbye to Miss Tracy. I could feel her nails dig even deeper before she shoved my arm away and stomped through the front door.
I pulled my arm up and looked down at it. I could see her claw marks, with redness all around them. Little prinks of blood pooled under the skin wanting to ooze out.
My lip trembles, scared of what will happen next, once I take a foot inside. I closed my eyes and dropped my arm. The air slowly escapes with a small wisp of a prayer.
My eyes slowly opened to only half-lidded and I kept my head down and started walking inside.
I was greeted by our dogs, two small dachshunds, and one big German shepherd. Yoshi was supposed to be my dog but she chose my father over me. Which was fine, I didn't have much time to spend at home, along with I didn't want to be here. Max was Serena's dog, father was trying to breed them but Max was too interested in the Shepherd named Sasha which was also Serena's dog.
The dachshunds jumped at my feet while the shepherd just glared me down. She was with an animal quirk of intelligence. Or at least, smart enough to obey everyone's orders except mine.
I walked past the dogs trying to run to my room before I get spotted but it was already too late. With my hand on the railing of the stairs to head to my room, I heard my name.
"Airmed. There you are come to the living room." My stepmother's voice sent a chill down my spine. I bit my cheek and slowly turned my body to go back to the one step and walked into the living room.
