Viola Grayson's POV
I wake up on the couch. I remember watching a movie with Dad. I must have fallen asleep. "Hey, you're awake! Better get dressed!" I laugh and kiss Dad on the cheek. I get dressed and Dad tosses me a bottle. "When your mother wore this, she glowed. See if you're the same." I read the bottle. Coconut Sun Lotion. Worth a shot. I slather some on my arms and legs. Dad walked in and smiled. "You're so much like your mother." I smile. Dad's always been there for me, ever since Mom died having me 16 years ago. He always encouraged me and told me off when I was doing things I shouldn't have done. We walk to the Reaping together. "Hello, District 6. I am Trinity Wish, the escort. For the 4th Quarter Quell, we will have two tributes and one of their family members as the tributes." She pulls a paper. "Viola Grayson!" I walk up, fear piercing my heart. "Braden Vydes." A tall boy who looks about 15 walks up. "Trevor Grayson and James Creeds!" Creeds? Shouldn't it be Vydes too?
Braden Vydes' POV
I wake up with James reading his comics. "You've been awake, and you didn't wake me up?" He nods. "Figured you should get sleep. It's Reaping Day, for goodness sakes." I give him a light punch and pull on a shirt. I walk into the living room and see Mrs. Creeds watching the news. "Good morning, Braden! Breakfast is on the stove!" I nod and see bacon sizzling. I turn off the stove and make two plates for James and I. He walks in. "Hurry before they get cold."
30 minutes later, we're in the 15 year-old boy section. The escort says all the stuff and explains the Quell's twist. "James! I have no family! What will they do if I'm reaped?" "I don't know!" I hear my name. Wow...speak of the devil. I walk to the stage and they call up this Trevor guy and James. James is going into the Games! With me! We don't stand a chance.
The reason Braden lives with the Creeds' is because his parents died. James is his best friend. Nice of them to adopt him, right?
