Napatingin si Madel nang bumukas nang malakas ang pinto ng kuwarto habang nakaupo siya sa kama at nakasandal sa headboard. Netflix was on TV but the sound was off. "Robb,"
"Hey!" He opened his arms for her.
Mabilis siyang bumaba ng kama, barefooted, she ran and jumped on him.
Sinalo siya nito.
Pakiramdam niya ay hindi niya pa nayakap ang asawa ng ng ganoon kahigpit sa loob ng halos dalawang buwan ng pagsasama nila.
She felt him hugged her tight as well.
Ang isang kamay nito ay nasa hips niya at ang isa ay humihimas sa likod niya.
Tumaas ang suot niyang damit.
"Sorry Robb."
"You didn't do anything wrong."
"Promise, okay lang talagang umalis muna ako para makapag-isip ka. Natatandaan mo ba 'yong sinabi ko noon kapag nakita mo si Leila?"
Lumuhod ito sa kama at maingat na binitiwan siya sa gitna. His one hand cupped her face and the other braced on the bed beside her head. He stared deeply in her eyes. "Nakita ko na si Leila bago pa kita makita sa bahay nila."
Napapikit siya. "But that was five years ago!"
"No, it was weeks before I go to Julio's house where I saw you."
Noon siya dumilat. "What?"
He nodded. "I saw her with that boy, Migs. That's the reason why I decided to break the engagement. There is no reason for I and Leila to be married. Ni hindi man lang ako nagselos o nagalit. I was alarmed by my unfeeling."
"Sigurado kang siya 'yon?"
"Yes, Ethan confirmed to me. Pati ang suot niya."
She felt and probably looked confused.
"After that, I told to myself. I can't marry that woman. Siguro kung nagselos ako, or nagalit. Mag-iisip ako. Puwede kong sabihin kay Ethan na huwag siyang hayaang makatakas. Bantayang mabuti. But I felt nothing. So, I just planned to be single until I really meet someone, if I would meet someone. Kaya pinuntahan ko siya sa bahay nila to break up with her. To tell her she's off the hook. Na hindi niya na kailangang tumakas. And then I met you."
"Robb..."
"I was thinking, kahit siguro wala si Migs. I don't feel anything for her. It was blank. I don't even remember what really happened when I had sex with her."
She was dumbstruck. "Paano mo maiisip pakasalan ang ganoong babae?"
"I was thinking na magiging katulad kami ng parents ko. But when I saw her I realize how wrong I was. I guess, that was an appointed time. I had to see her that day so I could decide. Because, I didn't feel like I was getting married even when I was planning it and paying people to do things. Unlike when I saw you. Pagdating ko sa bahay naghanap ako ng wedding ring na babagay sa kamay mo. I had to order and overnighted it to me."
