🦋•Two months later
🦋•December-
Oikawa was standing in his front yard, snow falling down around him. It was peaceful, he was happy.
He didn't want to ruin the perfect canvas that the snow had created during the harsh winter night but the crunch of the snow beneath his feet itched a certain scratch in his brain.
The crunch of the three feet bounding towards his house made him happy. The laughing and stomping, the sound of snowballs hitting backs.
The sounds of three lovers loving.
A month ago Hanamaki, Matsukawa and Iwaizumi had talked, cried, laughed and gotten together. They told Oikawa about it a week into their relationship.
He was happy for them, happy that they had finally found their peace.
A snowball hit him. That was definitely the work of Matsukawa.
"Issei! That's freezing!" Oikawa squealed, pouting before quickly smiling as Hanamaki jumped at him, engulfing him in a hug.
"Toru! We're finally off school!" Hanamaki was laughing, his eyes closed, a smile that bore his teeth and lit up his face. Christmas break meant that they didn't just have to see Oikawa outside of school but everyday.
Iwaizumi and Matsukawa bounded over, smiles just as bright as Makki's as they joined in on the hug.
"Hm, you guys are warm." Oikawa smiled and exhaled in satisfaction into Hanamaki's chest, the boy's hoodie tickling his cheek. It felt nice.
"Cmon, lets get inside!" Iwaizumi stepped back, grabbing Makki and Mattsun by their collars before shoving them softly into Oikawa's house. He turned to look at Oikawa.
"You coming coldkawa?" Oikawa giggled, making his way into his house.
"I went to the shop again today, got some hot chocolate and cream puffs." Hanamaki ran to the kitchen, Matsukawa following behind just as excitedly. Iwaizumi went to follow, putting a hand on Oikawa's back to lead him to the kitchen with them.
"Were you okay today?" Iwaizumi whispered it into his ear, a hand still on Oikawa's back.
"Yeah, a little tired but I'm slowly getting used to it." Iwaizumi smiled at him, moving away once they advanced into the kitchen.
Matsukawa had the kettle on and Hanamaki was eating the cream puffs.
"Thanks Kawa!" His mouth was full but Oikawa still understood, throwing up a peace sign at him. He was slowly going back to the boy he had lost a couple years ago, the boy he was before he stripped him self down, made his body and mind and heart bare to his anxiety. He was finally getting okay at being who he really is.
🦋
Oikawa will be going back to school in January. Not full time, twice a week for three hours to ease him back into it.
After talking to therapists and the school and the three most important people in his life, Oikawa decided that he wanted to try and go back to school. He wanted to be ready.
Each of his classes will have either Makki, Mattsun or Iwaizumi in it, he'll have a timeout card and he'll see the councillor for his first half of lunch.
He'd have two lessons before lunch and one afterwards and then he'll go home and complete the rest there until he's gradually in for more lessons and then more days and then hopefully full time.
The school had contacted him mum and he'd be surprised if she answered, two months ago Iwaizumi, Hanamaki and Matsukawa came into his life and two months ago was the last time he saw his mother.
He had money to survive for a while without her, and she had left some as well. But only enough for a few weeks, so he figured she would be back after a few weeks, but she wasn't.
But he's okay. He's got Iwa, Mattsun and Makki and if they noticed his mother wasn't around, they didn't comment on it. It made it easier for them to be there anyway.
He was scared to go back to school but excited to start this new era in his life with the three people he held closest.
When he first left the house two months ago, he had slept for two days straight afterwards, it was rough.
He was dehydrated, starving and crying when Matsukawa found him. He had walked in the house, Iwaizumi and Hanamaki going to the shop beforehand, so Matsukawa went ahead.
Oikawa was sitting crosslegged on his couch, his shaking body clutching a pillow to his chest as he sobbed. He felt faint and when Matsukawa tried to pry the pillow away he had slapped him.
Oikawa had slapped him.
It was a rough week after that, and for the next two weeks Oikawa was convinced that Matsukawa hated him but he still always greeted him with a hug and a soft smile, smelling like cigarettes and vanilla coffee beans. He didn't hate him, he understood.
The next time he cried, Iwaizumi had found him, he was sitting in the corner of his room, he had tried going to the library, he had succeeded but there were so many people that this time he slept for three days straight.
Iwaizumi found him slumped against his wall, cheeks wet and body trembling.
It broke his heart.
The time after that Hanamaki found him, Oikawa was sat outside his house shivering in the snow, he was crying but the cold kept the tears in his eyes, Oikawa only producing small sobs every now and then.
He took off his coat and scarf, draping them over the boy and bringing him into his house, turning on the kettle and sending him to bed.
He slept for a whole week and Hanamaki didn't leave his side once, cuddling his nightmares away, kissing his eyelids as he fell back asleep.
They were all there for him so maybe, despite the pit in his stomach and the tears behind his eyes, he was ready to go back to school.
Just maybe.
