Hi :3 i took the pic at the top :)
Also, I'm British so, yes i write 'mum'•
Once the door was fully closed, Oikawa let out a shaky breath. He felt so simultaneously safe and cautious at the same time, being trapped in a house with someone he hadn't seen in a year.
It was all too overwhelming but somehow Iwaizumi had always made him feel safe.
Iwaizumi stood in the living room for a second, observing the house he spent most of his childhood in.
It was all the same just a tad bit more...lonely.
"Where's your mum?" The question startled Oikawa, making goosebumps run over his body, not being used to casual conversation this time of day. Or any time really. He hasn't had a proper conversation with someone in ages.
"Work." Oikawa moved to the kitchen and Iwaizumi followed idly.
"Really? She was always home at this time if I remember correctly." Oikawa was surprised at the little things Iwaizumi seemed to remember about their long yet so very short friendship.
"Oh yeah, she picked up some extra hours. With my dad gone we're not getting that extra income anymore so..." Iwaizumi gave Oikawa a sympathetic smile.
It was almost as if he could see right through his lie. They'd always been quite well off, even with Oikawa's dad gone but Oikawa couldn't bear to tell anyone it was because his mother couldn't stand to be around such a disappointment as much as she already was.
Oikawa had turned the kettle on to make Iwaizumi a tea, fiddling with the little grains of sugar he had spilled on the counter that morning from his morning coffee.
"Ah. Well that explains it then. So, you never answered my question Toru, where you been?" Pulling out the first name was so dirty of him. Iwaizumi always knew just how to get under Oikawa's skin.
"Uhm well, i-" Oikawa stopped short, realising that he didn't know how to answer that, he didn't think anyone would ask, or even care for that matter.
Iwaizumi waited patiently for Oikawa to collect his thoughts.
The kettle chimed, signifying that the tea was ready so Oikawa stalled by finishing up the shorter man's tea and handing it to him.
Iwaizumi took a sip, a satisfied hum slipping it's way past his lips. Oikawa never forgot just how Iwaizumi liked his tea made.
"I've just been...doing online school. It got hard to face everything after my dad died." Pulling the dead dad card probably wasn't the best thing to do but it also wasn't entirely a lie, his life had gotten that little bit darker after his safety net was suddenly ripped away from him.
"Oh, yeah that's understandable. Well, i miss you anyway." Oikawa let a small smile fall onto his face as his stomach flipped at the way Iwaizumi said the words.
Sincerity topped off with a fond smile and soft eyes.
"You too, Iwa-chan." And he really did miss that angry, spiky-headed dork he grew up with.
It was silent in the kitchen for a moment, the two enjoying the moment they hadn't been able to in so long.
Oikawa felt guilty for shutting Iwaizumi out so suddenly, but he was perfectly content seeing the man from behind a screen in a snapshot of his seemingly perfect life posted all over Instagram.
Or atleast he thought he was perfectly content untill Iwaizumi was standing in his kitchen, looking so pretty and perfect while enjoying his tea, and Oikawa realised just how much he really missed him.
Could he even be considered Iwaizumi's friend anymore?
