"You're right Iwaizumi but I understand where Oikawa is coming from." Hanamaki sighed, placing a hand on Iwaizumi's shoulder. "Maybe i should go up there and talk to him."
"He asked us to leave him alone." Iwaizumi mumbled dejectedly.
"He said that last time and i went to talk to him then and that turned out okay." Iwaizumi didn't respond, Hanamaki looked over at Matsukawa who was smoking a cigarette out the window.
Matsukawa looked at him and smiled. "Go. Go talk to him, I'll look after our zumi." His tone was soft and playful, it lightened the mood. Hanamaki was so grateful for him.
But now was not the time to admire his boyfriend, now it was time to go talk to his other boyfriend.
Hanamaki slowly went up the stairs, it hurt him to see Oikawa upset, he needed time to prepare himself for what was probably going to be a draining talk. It was pivotal though.
Hanamaki knocked on his bedroom door twice. "Kawa?" No response.
It had been about an hour since Oikawa went upstairs, maybe he had fallen asleep.
Hanamaki knocked again. "Toru?"
He decided to just walk in, expecting to see Oikawa wrapped up in his duvet, softly snoozing.
When he entered, Oikawa was sleeping. He was at his desk, the upper half of his body sprawled onto his desk, he was half falling off his chair.
Hanamaki knew Iwaizumi was right. This talk had to happen now. Oikawa had time to recharge so Hanamaki decided to wake him up.
Makki softly shook Oikawa's shoulder but the boy didn't budge. He tended to be a heavier sleeper when stressed so Hanamaki put more force into his shake.
"Kawa. We need to talk." Oikawa didn't wake up. Hanamaki's shakes grew more desperate. "Oikawa!"
Makki heard something drop onto the ground. He glanced down momentarily before looking back at Oikawa then looking down again.
It was a bottle of medication.
Hanamaki bent down to pick it up, seeing that it was empty, he shook Oikawa harder, tears springing to his eyes.
Oikawa couldn't have. Had they pushed him too far? So far that he downed a whole bottle of pills?
"Hajime! Issei!" His voice broke, a choked sob making it's way up his throat. He kept on shaking Oikawa, the boy still didn't budge.
Two seta of footsteps came thumping up the stairs. The stress in Hanamaki's voice was clear and as they got closer to the room, his crying was clear aswell.
"What's going on?!" Matsukawa still had a lit cigarette in his hand but Makki couldn't focus on that right now.
Iwaizumi stepped closer to his hysterical boyfriend, wondering what all the fuss was about.
Hanamaki shakily held up the empty pill bottle. "Kawa he- he won't wake up."
Iwaizumi's face dropped, he froze.
Matsukawa, always being the clearer thinker, pulled out his phone and called an ambulance. They had accidentally left Hanamaki's car at Iwaizumi's house.
"Ok, ok let's not panic." Iwaizumi finally spoke up, he was shaking, his eyes trained on Oikawa's limp posture. "Let's just...just wait for the ambulance. He'll be alright."
It was clear that Iwaizumi wasn't sure in his words, his voice deeply laced with panic.
Matsukawa walked over to Hanamaki wrapping an arm around his shoulder, encouraging him to calm down a little.
Iwaizumi stepped forward again and was pulled into a hug with Makki and Mattsun.
There were sirens slowly getting closer in the background.
Makki was sniffling into Iwaizumi's collar bone, Mattsun moved his arm to wrap around Hanamaki's waist, making sure the cigarette didn't burn him, gripping desperately onto his shirt.
The sirens grew louder.
"It's gonna be okay." It was a quiet whisper shared between them. Uncertainty seeped into the air.
The sirens were blaring now before they stopped, signalling that the ambulance was here. They could hear the rushed door slams of the paramedic.
"Cmon. It's gonna be okay." Another hushed whisper.
Another shared moment between them.
Another obstacle, another uncertainty, another prayer simultaneously shared.
It was going to be okay.
