Chapter 10
Olive's POV

A/N: Shorter chapter today, I am sorry :)

I wake up to the smell of salt and the beach.

The memories of the night before flash into my brain, and I make sure my 'Kylie' appearance is still intact.

I breathe out, chuckling.
That was close.

A knock sounds, and Dru Blackthorn opens the door, Eleanor following closely behind.
I sit up, stretching.
"Good morning."

"Good morning," Dru replies, her tone sharp. "We are doing patrols in an hour, the new gear is in your drawers, and Jules is making breakfast for everyone."
"Thank you," I reply, my throat laced with sweetness.

Dru nods, walking out.

"Did you need anything?" I ask, walking over to the cabinet.
Her blue eyes watch me carefully.
"How about whatever you are lying about?"

I scoff.
"Sorry, nope. If that's all, goodbye blondie."
I give a wave, wishing I could use my magic and the door would close automatically, pushing her out.

Eleanor sighs, giving me a non-appropriate mundane hand gesture, and exits my room.
I stick my tongue out childishly, and get dressed.
How hard can patrols be?

'I change my mind', I think to myself as Shax demons appear of out the water at Santa Monica Pier.

Lissa notices the draining of my face and chuckles.
"No worries, newbie. We will help you, don't fret."

I nod slowly, watching as Lissa pulls out a sword that has 'Wrayburn' written down the side.
It must have been her mother's.
I use the practise sword and daggers that Dru lent me before we left the Institute, putting myself in a ready pose.

Alessa and John tackle the demons on the sides, fighting them with their freaky angelic powers.
Lissa, Eleanor and I stand in a triangle, me using my newfound training on the demons surrounding us.
I secretly use my magic to balance myself and my weapons, making myself not look like a crappy fighter and more of a decent one.

"Nice hit Kylie!" Lissa yells at Eleanor and I.
I smile, knocking a Shax demon back so it doesn't hit blondie.
She grimaces at me, and we continue to battle.

"Do you guys do this all the time?" I ask, panting.
Lissa nods, slicing through another demon, letting ichor spray onto us.

I nod, slicing another, as Eleanor kills the one about to get me.

"Thanks," I say as a demon scrapes my ankle.
I curse as I feel the blood, and Lissa finishes up the last one.

Alessa and John come back sweaty and bloodied, but smiling.
"Nice patrol everyone," John says. "I called Uncle Jules, and he made more pancakes for us."
"Yay!" Eleanor and Lissa cheer, clapping.

Alessa smiles, and we all walk up to the pier.

***

I need to get information, I think to myself as I step out of the shower and get into new clothes.
Which person needs to confess?

I bandage up my ankle, wincing slightly from the blood.
My phone rings, and I look at the caller id.

I smile.

"Ah, Sanderson," I say into the phone. "What do you need?"
"Whatever information," They snarl.

"What happened?"
"A bastard stole Kahlen when she was on an errand run. What the hell do you know?"
I grimace.
"Give me four hours. Try to track the kidnapper. I'll meet you at the both."

Sanderson's curses fill off their end as I cut off the call.

I put my high-laced military boots, making sure my glamour is still on, going to the door.
I open it, and Eleanor is leaning against the frame, clicking a pen.

"Going somewhere?"
