Chapter 28
Olive's POV

A/N: I am sorry not sorry for all the lovey dovey scenes. It's just the mood I am in :)

I wake up the next morning, asleep on the couch in between Kahlen and Ahren.
I yawn, slipping out and heading to the kitchen.

As I reach the kitchen, I overhear noise coming from the wall.
What's going on? I wonder to myself.

I lean against the wall, putting my whole body on it.
What on earth is happening?
The wall shifts from under me, and I pale.

It's a hidden corridor.
The estates always have these.

I sneak in, listening to the conversation.
I cast a forcefield around me, making myself completely invisible and soundless.

"Did everything go well with the transportation?" A voice asks, on the receiving end of the phone call.
"No, there wasn't a full load to the base. We lost one of the ingredients before leaving." The person replies.

"Which one?"
"The ketchup."

A line of swears follow the sentence.

I blink, and try to hone in on the speakers voice.
They sound familiar.
Even with the voice distorter.

"Will you be able to retrieve the ketchup, Lieutenant, or will we need to go to the warehouse and retrieve another shipment?"
The person calling gulps.
"I'll get it, leader."

"Good," The receiver says. "Or I'll have your head for it, Lieutenant."
The call ends.

I freeze in place.
Please don't be someone who can see through my barricades.

The person mutters something in another language.
Latin? Greek?

Their footsteps come clanging towards me, and I lean quietly against the wall.
They pass by and I watch as they walk towards the entrance.

The wall opens as they press against, and they take their hood off to hang against the post.
My mouth drops to the floor.

The Lieutenant is Eleanor.

***

I made my way back to the living room, and undo the spells.
I flop next to Ahren on the couch, in shock.

"You okay, Olive?" They whisper.
I just blink, not responding.
"Olive?" They ask, their tone sounding more worried.

I turn, and kiss them as my response.
Their expression melts slowly, and Ahren pulls me into their lap, kissing me more.

Kahlen is asleep on the other side, so we're gentle to not wake her.

Ahren's hands travel down the sides of my body, and we both continue to make out until we need to catch our breaths.
I lean against their chest, panting hard.
They hold me close.

"Get out of this disguise," They whisper softly. "I want to kiss Olive's lips, not Kylie's. And with my own, not Azriel's."
I nod, and we both transform back into our true selves.

They twirl my blue hair in their fingers, and run their other hand against my translucent like leg.
"Beautiful," They mutter, before kissing me again.
I flush slightly, feeling lighter than air.

In that moment I realise I should tell them about Eleanor.
"I need to tell you something."
"It can wait," They murmur against my lips. "Whatever it is can let me and you have a good moment before distracting us."

I nod, and they scoop me into their arms.
"Where are we going?" I whisper, flushed.

Ahren winks, before deeply kissing me again and carrying me to their room.
