Chapter 8

Olive's POV

"Where on earth did you get those?" I gasp, my face contorted with shock.
The girl shrugs.
"A young lady sold them to me and told me not to sell them until she comes back."

I chuckle.
"You're a smart girl, huh?"
She nods.
"That's what Daddy says."

"Who is your father?"

The little girl runs a hand through her blonde hair before pointing to the young person running their stand.
"They adopted me from the streets when I was three. I have the Sight just like them."
I nod.

These two could be of use to me in the future.

I let the girl wander back to her father, wrapping her arms around one of their legs.
They ruffle her hair.

I walk back to the front of the stall.
The person watches me carefully.

"What do you want?" They ask.
I cross my arms.
"I need those compasses that your daughter has in her possession."
They laugh.
"You have the money for it?"

"Daddy," the little girl whispers, pulling on his arm. "The lady told us not to sell it."
"She is an evil lady," I tell her. "She hurt a lot of people recently, and I have the proof."

"Okay, sweetheart," The person whispers. "Go get the knapsack and run back over to me."
The girl nods and runs off.

"Proof, you say?" They ask, leaning on the stalls counter.
I pull out my phone, showing the video of the funeral the Shadowhunters hosted recently for their fallen family members and friends.
The person watches me.

"Is that-"
I nod, cutting them off.

The girl runs back.
"Hand her the knapsack, Kahlen," The person instructs.
Kahlen nods, and gives the bag to me.

I summon my portal and pull out a bag of money and hand it to her.
She giggles.
"Thank you."

The person hands me a business card, the name Ahren Sanderson in bigger letters.
I make one out of thin air, the card named: Olive Siphon, warlock.
I hand it to him, my number on it.

"I'll be in touch," I tell them.

They nod, and I walk off, changing my appearance back to the Shadowhunter, Kylie.

I meet up with the others near the entrance, successfully had put the knapsack in my magical realm before arriving there.

"Get what you needed?" Eleanor practically growls at me.
I nod, giving a cheery smile, which changes her stance.

"Yep, I acquired what I needed."
John claps.

The five of us wave to Hypatia and Lissa motions for us to hop in the car.
We drive back to the Institute.
During the drive, Alessa is on the phone with Nightshade's Pizza.

The place was closed in 2012 for problems, but it reopened again after the owner got out of the Clave's way.

"Four large pizza's please, two cheese, one pepperoni, and one vegan please," Alessa says sweetly.
She hangs up and we reach the Institute.

We hop out, and Lissa goes to park.
I follow everyone else inside, to find Emma and Julian Blackthorn leaning against the railing of the stairs.
Julian's blue eyes watch mine carefully as I climb up the stairs and pass the two of them.

"It's nice to meet you," I say to both of them.
Emma and Julian give sad smiles and I go to the new room they gave me.

I pull out my cell phone and Sanderson's business card.
I dial their number and wait while it rings.
"Sanderson here," Ahren says. "This is the warlock from earlier, I assume?"

"This is them," I reply."

"What do you need?" They ask.
"Just calling to see if the number works, and it does. How's little Kahlen doing?"
Ahren coughs slightly.
"She's alright, actually we're on our way out of the market."

"Good. I'll talk to you guys later."
I hang up.

I put my phone away and turn to see Eleanor leaning in the doorway.

"What do you want, blondie?" I ask.
I lean against my bedpost, legs crossed.

"Who were you talking to?" She asks, eyeing me suspiciously.
"Nonya," I reply. "Nonya business."

Eleanor flips me off, and I chuckle.
"I'll figure out whatever it is you're hiding, Kylie."

I give a smirk back at her.
"I'm sure you will, Ellie."
She looks pissed.

I gesture for her to leave, when the doorbell rings and the pizza delivery person is here.
I go down the stairs, and open the door for the person.

There is a young vampire boy standing there with a 'The Mortal Instruments' shirt on.
He has four boxes of pizza on one hand, and a cell phone in the other.

"Blackthorn Residence?" He asks.
I nod.
He hands over the pizza boxes and I grab the money that was on the side table, handing it to him.

"Nice t-shirt," I say.
He nods, fangs sliding out as the grin widens.

I shut the door behind me, and make my way to the living room.

"Pizza!" I call, and a heard of wild elephants come at me.
I swiftly grab a plate and a slice of cheese pizza, sitting on a side chair.

This is my new life. I guess I should get used to it.
