Chapter 30
Olive's POVWe both wake up to the sun rising and blinding us.
I hiss at the sun, and Ahren laughs.
"You're not a vampire, Olive."
They flick my nose.I chuckle.
"Nah I'm definitely a werewolf."They laugh more, and we both sit up.
I forgot about last night, as the memories float up and into the main part of my brain.
I blush."Have fun?" They ask.
"Yes," I reply. "I enjoyed that a lot."
"Would you ever consider dating me?"I turn to look at them.
Their dark hair curls at their temples."I think, yes I think I'd like that a lot."
Their eyes widen slightly.
"So, if I called you my partner, what would you say about it?" They ask."I would say that I like that a lot too."
They pull me on top of them, kissing me deeply.
I chuckle."Partners?"
"Partners."***
We both stumble downstairs, and I see Eleanor with John and Alessa.
I freeze involuntarily.I make our disguises go back in place.
Ahren watches me worriedly.
"What's wrong?"I pull them to an alcove and watch.
"What I wanted to say earlier- Eleanor. She works with them."
I enunciate the word them.Their eyes widen.
"She what?"I cover their mouth with my hand, effectively shooshing them.
"Yeah, she is the Lieutenant," I say.
Ahren's jaw drops.I nod grimly.
"What are we going to do? Find out more info?"They shrug.
"Just act normal."We both walk into the room, kinda awkwardly.
John freezes slightly."You all alright?"
We both nod."Did you guys have fun last night?" Alessa starts to write but I quickly burn it with my flames, making her wheeze, as if she's giggling.
Ahren quirks an eyebrow.
I make an innocent look.We both sit down.
I watch everyone anxiously.Eleanor continues her conversation with John.
Alessa watches us warily. The room has a very awkward aroma to it.
"What's next?" Ahren asks.
Lissa comes in carrying a bouncy Kahlen."Daddy!" She says, jumping on them.
They smile."Well," Lissa says. "We need to find the other kids they've brainwashed. Flush out the base."
I nod, watching Eleanor's movements in my peripheral.
"Why don't we go ask my moms?" Alessa writes. "They should know some stuff about this."We all nod.
John looks up, utterly confused from being deep in conversation with Eleanor.
"What are we doing?" He asks."Going to find Mom and Mum," Alessa writes.
He nods, his bangs curling slightly.I stay back, nodding to Ahren.
They take Kahlen with them, leaving me to be with Eleanor.Alone.
I make a cup of tea, leaning against the counter.
"Big plans with John?" I ask.
I try to be subtle while stirring the tea.Eleanor shrugs.
"Dad needs us to go see Valentina and her family at New Idris soon.""So you're taking him with you?"
She nods.
"His dads are needed. Uncle Ty went to the new Shadowhunter Academy."
I nod.My tea is ready, and I take the bag out, sipping it.
I make a happy 'mmm' noise, causing Eleanor to quirk an eyebrow."You like tea?" She asks.
I nod.
"I lived in England, a small town near Manchester. But that was before I learned of my warlock-y abilities.""So a long time ago?"
"Yup," I reply.I drink more of the tea.
Eleanor looks down awkwardly.Nobody else would believe me if I told them about her.
"Did you lose your accent? Like Aunt Tessa?"
I flush slightly.
"Nobody's asked me that before.""Not even your boyfriend?"
I glare at her.
"Do you want to hear it or not, Blondie?"I drink more tea.
She went quiet."Yes or no? And you shut up about Az. Or I'll effectively make you shut up."
"Fine fine fine, yes," She says.I clear my throat.
I try to remember my best British memories.
Some tears slide down my face.I wipe them off.
"Okay, here we go."I clear my throat again.
"Okay you pathetic scumbags, if you don't fucking move I'll dump my tea on all of you."
A/N: (This is similar to a friend of mine's sentence who's British, so it's not mean)
I think it sounded somewhat decent.
I look up, and Eleanor looks at me, her jaw dropped."Was it okay?" I ask, still in the accent.
"It's really neat."I flush, embarrassed.
"Really?"Eleanor nods.
"You should use it more often.""Maybe I will. I sound proper."
I drink more tea, and she shuffles towards the sink."I'm going to go see Kahlen," I say. "See ya later."
I head out, my mind spinning.Eleanor looks around, making sure I'd left.
"How am I supposed to do this?" She mutters. "How do I earn their trust back? I'm going to have to betray everyone."
