Chapter 34
Olive's POV

TW: Fighting, some death

The house is pure hell.

Kahlen was stolen.
By Eleanor.

I knew she would fucking strike.
But I fell for her tricks.
Her deceiving blonde, curly hair and ocean blue eyes.

Ahren is a mess.
They've been crying nonstop since they found Kahlen's bed empty.

John hasn't left his room since the news got out.
Alessa and Lissa are taking their anger out in the training room.

Her parents are 10 times worse. 
'Since Atticus was gone, everything had been off.'
At least that's what Emma told Julian.

I am in my room, grabbing my gear and weapons.
Ahren is on the bed, upset with themself.

"Are you positive you know where she took her?" They ask.
I nod.
"It's the same place as before, partner."

I use the pet term to see if I could tease them.
But no change in expression shows... great.

They pack up a bag too, of their meagre belongings.
Mine went into my magical suitcase.

I head to John's room.
As I knock on the door, a loud "GO THE FUCK AWAY!" sounds.

I sigh.
"John, it's Kylie. We're going to the portal soon to re-rescue Kahlen. You're invited to follow. If you want."
I walk away and headed downstairs.

Alessa and Lissa stand, ready with Ahren.
We all head outside, bidding goodbye to the adults, who actually know we're leaving this time.
Ha.

I summon a portal, and the four of us hop in.

It drops us off a few metres from the rocks under the Santa Monica bridge.
I modify it to stay open only for John for a couple more minutes.
We all draw our weapons. 

I shift into myself, my blue hair flaring.

Alessa signs, "Lissa stay in the back, Olive go first to unlock. Strongest people."
I look at Lissa.
She nods, shrugging with no disapproval.

Lissa takes the back, Ahren flashing their seraph blade.
I unlock it again.
As we step down, a dart comes flying at us.

"DODGE!" A voice instructs, and we all dive to the side. 
The dart whistles out, almost hitting our helper.

It's John.

He's blocked it with his book of Detective mysteries.
Thanks to Ty and Kit.

"John!" Alessa signs, and he smiles.
"I'll take the middle," He says. "Watch for more traps."

"How'd you know that?" Ahren asks.

John points to the ground.
"The rocks look uneven. You can thank my OCD."
Lissa nods.

We continue to walk, carefully watching as John watches the rocks.
I reach the sets of bedrooms first.

One girl is being read to sleep.

Lissa's jaw drops.
"That's Meg," She whispers. "I can't believe her."

"Like Eleanor?" John replies, earning a dark look.

Alessa shoots an arrow that is similar to Hawkeye's, effectively knocking Meg and the child out with gas.
"Tie them up," I instruct.

I summon a portal and it exits into the safety and locked down-ness of the New York Institute.

"Send a fire message," I tell Alessa. "To Magnus."
She nods.

Ahren picks up the child and gently places them through. 
John takes Meg as I open a second portal to the Silent City.
We leave Meg in there.

"Let's save the rest of the children," Alessa signs, after finishing the message.
"What about Eleanor?" John asks.

"You can handle her," I reply. "Clap for the SIlent City portal when you need it and toss her in."
He nods, slipping his headphones on and going off.

"Ahren and I are going to find Kahlen. Along with the co-leader."
Lissa nods.
"We'll handle the rest."

I smile.
"Snap for the NY portal."

The two of them roll out, leaving us alone.

"This way," Ahren leads.
I follow them out of the rooms, headed to the place that looks like Kahlen. Or has a footprint of her.

I see her.
Phew.

"Ahren, you get her. I'll handle the leader."
They watch me worriedly.
"I'll be alright," I promise.

They finally nod.
Ahren runs over to me, hugging and kissing me softly.
I kiss them back.

Footsteps interrupt us.

They run to get Kales. I hide against the sidewall as the co-leader runs past in a panic.
I shift into Kylie, my soundless rune going into place.
I follow, being as silent as possible.

They enter a room, and I follow more.
The door almost closes on me.

"Director!" The person calls, trying to get a decent connection.
I grin to myself.
Alessa has her talents.

"Director!" They call again.
I snort loudly.

They jump, turning around.
"Who's there?"

"Your worst nightmare," I reply.
I shift into myself again, summoning my magic. I also have my mortal sword in my pocket, ready to use.

"You. I remember you, you blue-haired bitch," They reply.
I blast magic at them, them evading it but getting singed on the sides.

I chuckle darkly.

She starts fighting me more intensely, so I level up my game.
I shift to my advantage.

Quickly, I disarm them and have them on the ground.
"What are your secrets, co-leader?" I taunt.

The door opens to the room, Ahren and Kahlen standing there.
I keep the bad guy in a hold, summoning the Silent City portal.

"What's your name?" I ask. "Who are you?"
They give a wild grin.
"My name is Jazmine, and I won't be going there. I'll be dead. Like you."

My reaction to their statement is slowed, and they take a knife, jabbing it into my stomach.
I groan in pain, and Jazmine takes a pill, crunching it between their teeth.

Ahren's eyes widen, and they cover Kahlen's eyes.

I shove Jazmine's convulsing body into the portal, effectively closing it.

Ahren gets me one for New York and pushes all of us through it.
