Always remember the rainbow at the end of the storm. It's all that matters. It signals it's going to be okay.

March First, 2020. Sapnap's birthday, and his first birthday with Dream.

Sapnap changes into a DGK trippin black shirt and some light blue ripped jeans. He leaves his room and goes to the bathroom to finish getting ready for the day. He has no clue if Dream has anything planned, but he's also extremely happy with sitting down and watching a movie or binging a show all day.

When Sapnap leaves the bathroom, he almost runs into Dream on the stairs.
"Goodmorning, follow me" Dream orders eagerly. Sapnap's eyes widen in slight fear for a moment, "Uh, okay." He didn't expect Dream to actually do something.

Dream leads Sapnap to the kitchen. He opens the fridge and reaches in the grab something; Sapnap's view is blocked due to Dream's height. Dream turns around and Sapnap's eyes soften at the sight. Dream made him a cake.

"I'm no baker, whatsoever" Dream argues immediately, setting down the orange cake. Dream beams, turning to Sapnap again.
"I attempted a red and yellow marble for the inside. I wanted it to be like fire colors because that's your brand. 'Cause it's on your Minecraft skin's shirt" Dream explains. Sapnap nods, "Let me see."

Dream grabs a cake knife and cuts a slice for Sapnap. He hands the piece to him and grins, his eyes crinkling.
"Happy 21st birthday, you can now drink legally! Sorry, there's no alcohol" Dream exclaims, cutting himself a slice. Sapnap laughs wholeheartedly and shakes his head, "It's okay! The cake looks amazing and it tastes really good." Dream smiles warmly, "Thank you."

"Do you want your gift now?" Dream questions, setting his plate down. Sapnap's face expresses bewilderment.
"You got me something?" he questions, his voice falling to a whisper due to disbelief. Dream nods, "Of course, let me go get it."

He comes back a two minutes later with a large box, covered in birthday wrapping paper.
"Dream, that looks.. expensive" Sapnap notes. Dream nods, "Mhm, so? Open it." Sapnap blinks a few times, trying to comprehend the situation.  He hesitantly touches the box where Dream sat it on the counter. Dream's smile somehow grows even bigger, "Go on." Sapnap inhales sharply, then rips the wrapping paper.

He can't believe it.

"You got me a PC?" he gasps in shock. Dream nods, clapping his hands together excitedly.
"The one you wanted! I've gotten a good amount of money from my growing subscribers and I know you've been wanting it. You deserve it, Sapnap. I wanted to get you it" Dream assures. Sapnap pulls Dream into a tight squeeze, Dream's arms wrapping around his shoulders due to the height difference.
"Thank you so much. It means everything to me, Dream. I love you, bro" Sapnap mumbles into his shoulder. Dream chuckles, "Of course! I love you too, dude."

Sapnap's never really been fond of his birthday. He doesn't see the point in celebrating it, but somehow he always got put with people who cared.

He was given Karl in 2017, along with Karl's friends. Karl gave him the best birthday in 2018, and it was probably the best birthday since he was like nine.

Karl's friends too, Tina and Brooke. They became Sapnap's friends and them and Quackity made sure to host a tiny celebration in 2019. Sapnap didn't realize he needed that until they arrived in his dorm (minus Quackity, he lived there) and saw their faces. They even made sure to text him this year too.

And now Dream. After everything that's happened, why does he deserve this? He really thinks he doesn't. Why do they put so much care and effort in him, when he just goes and lets them down? Dream gave him a literally PC. It cost a lot but really, it was just the thought that means the most. Karl's gift to him was a skateboard; they loved skateboarding together. It made him so happy.

Wait. Sapnap looks behind him to the right, where his closet is. He inhales gently and stands from his desk. He exhaled shakily as he walks closer to the closet.

In the corner of the closet, there it sits. The board with a checkered pattern paired with flames on the bottom. He frowns slightly, it hasn't been touched in almost two years. He exhales harshly, then bends down and picks it up. He jogs out of his room and down the stairs to the front door, only stopping at the door to tug on his white vans. If he hesitated or stopped elsewhere, he wouldn't go through with it.

He sucks in a breath when the cool air hits him. It once again feels like a fresh start, but with the board in his hand, he knows it isn't. There's nowhere to go but foreword, so Sapnap steps foreword until he hits the asphalt. He sits the board down and pauses, glancing down at the board then back up at the blue sky.

He breathes in and exhales softly.
He lets go; he takes off.
Only place to go is foreword. Either way, Karl is always going to be with him.
