Class had gone off without a hitch and York offered to walk me to my next class which was English.
"Do you want to sit with my friends and I at lunch today?" He asked as we walked back down the stairs.
"Oh um, I'm not sure." I said a little nervously. I usually ate lunch with Evie if we had the same lunch period.
"You're not?" He asked confused.
"I mean I usually eat lunch with my sister."
"Well she can eat with us too if she wants." He shrugged his shoulders like it didn't bother him.
"I'll see what she wants to do and then let you know."
"Ok, just so you know you're welcome if you want." We stopped outside of my English class and he looked down at me.
"Thanks I appreciate it. I'll see you in Chemistry." I waved to him as I entered my classroom.
In English I was again met with curious stares but none of them were hostile as the case sometimes tended to be. Many of the people in class introduced themselves to me, once one person took the initiative the others followed. That person was a girl named Violet who came up to my desk while we waited for the teacher to get to our room.
"Hi I'm violet!" She waved to me. She was a very pretty girl with long black straight hair, bright blue eyes with pale skin. She personified what a Violet would look like if it was a person.
"Hey I'm Emmy." I waved back.
"Oh I know. Everyone knows who you and your sister are." She smiled and sat down on top of my desk.
"That's embarrassing." I laughed self-consciously.
"Oh it's alright; you won't be the new girl for very much longer. Once everyone has gotten a good look at you and talked a little, you will be old news." She smiled trying to reassure me.
"Well, that's a relief I guess. So," I said trying to change the subject from me. "What is there to do around here?"
"Hmm, well there is the movie theater and we have a bowling alley."
"Is that it?" I asked, that didn't sound like a lot to do.
"Well there's the mall too and kids hang out at different restaurants and parties get thrown all the time." Violet said trying to defend her little town.
"I'm not much of a party goer." I told her honestly.
She laughed, "Neither am I. I'm sure we could figure out something else to do if you wanted?"
"I would like that very much." Just as she was about to reply the teacher came in calling us all to order.
"Well I'll see you later." She said quietly as she went back to her seat.
Next was chemistry and it went much like the last two classes. York saved me a seat and went between talking to me and trying to get his friends off his back. He asked me many questions and in turn told me much about himself. He was seventeen and had lived in Endsbrooke his whole life, his mom and dad owned the local candy store in town which he worked in. He apparently didn't know a stranger because as we walked down the halls to lunch he said hi to everyone we passed.
"Wow you really know everyone huh?" I asked as we entered the lunch room.
"That's what happens when you live in one place your whole life. So are you going to sit with us?" York asked.
