"Hey, Ronan!" I shouted as Ronan stole a tater tot from my tray. He just grinned and tried to steal another one. I swatted his hand away as hard as I could.

"Ow, watch where you swing that thing," He pointed with his head to my hand while he nursed his wound.

"You mess with her tater tots you get what's coming to you," Evie laughed. I stuck my tongue out at the whole table then popped a tater tot in my mouth.

"So who is excited for homecoming?" Daphne asked as she sat down at the table.

"I'm very excited!" Evie smiled and I realized that she had really missed out on having a normal life.

"I would be more excited if I knew I was going with a certain someone," Ronan nudged my arm with his shoulder.

"No Ronan, Emmy isn't going with you. Come on girls we've stayed strong this long we can hold out a little longer!" Bea exclaimed. She was adamant about the four of us going together as a group. I felt Ronan's arm slip around my shoulders as he leaned in to whisper in my ear.

"But you will save me a few dances right?" His breath tickled my ear. My stomach flopped at his proximity. I looked into bright green eyes and gulped. Before I could respond something smacked against the side of Ronan's head. His eyes narrowed and grabbed the piece of paper that had been crumpled and thrown at him. My eyes went immediately to Forrest who was glaring at Ronan from across the room. I heard a snort from Ronan and when I turned to him he was crumpling up the paper again and shoving it in his pocket. He looked over at Forrest and made eye contact, he made to stand up but I put my hand on his arm.

"Don't Ronan, it's not worth it. He was just being immature." I shot a look at Forrest and by the way he smirked at me I could have sworn he had heard me, but he was across the room. Ronan grunted and sat back down. "What did the paper say?" I couldn't help but ask.

"Nothing," he mumbled. "So will you?" He turned to me again.

"Will I what?" I couldn't quite remember what we had been talking about before.

"Will you save a dance for me, or two?" He smiled his beautiful smile.

"Oh, of course I will." My breath caught at the thought of dancing with Ronan.

"Good, now that I got that out of the way. Since you won't go with me to homecoming, will you go out with me on Friday?" He had just asked me out and my heart had just stopped beating.

"You mean as a date?" I asked just to make sure. I looked around the table but the girls were in their only little world talking about what they were going to do with their hair for the dance.

"Yes I mean a date. I figured it was about time I asked you. I really like you Emmy; I don't think you know how much." He said the last part so quietly I don't think he meant for me to hear it. I literally didn't know if my heart was beating right then. I liked Ronan a lot too, but I also liked Forrest a lot. I looked over at Forrest and my heart dropped. He was staring at us with a mixture of anger, fear, and hurt. Could he really hear what we were saying at the other end of the room?

"I...I'm not sure," I told him honestly. "I like you too, but..." I didn't know how to finish my sentence. I glanced again at Forrest who caught my eye. Ronan glanced towards Forrest also.

"Look," he began. "I get it, actually I probably understand it a little bit more then you do."

"What?" I asked him.
