School finally ended for the day without any more problems. York had apologized for his behavior in the cafeteria when we were in chemistry together. And when I saw Violet I told her all about what happened in the cafeteria. She just laughed it off and told me to ignore the whole lot of them, but I could tell that she didn't find it as funny as she was trying to make it out to be.

Evie and I stood in front of the school waiting for dad both of us tired and hungry. When dad finally pulled up I gave a sigh of relief and climbed in the backseat.

"How was your first day of school today girls?" He asked immediately after we climbed in.

"Interesting dad, real interesting." I told him not having any other way of describing it. I saw him frown in the front seat, "Did something happen?" He asked.

"No dad nothing happened," Evie said for me and then smiled. "However there was an almost fight in the cafeteria and you will never guess what about." I blushed at her words and dad guffawed.

"I haven't the faintest idea. What was this almost fight about?"

"Oh you know just about your lovely daughter Emmaline." Evie snickered. Dad was stopped at a red light and he turned to face me raising an eye brow.

"You had two boys fight over you?" His voice filled with surprise. At this Evie couldn't help but laugh.

"Not exactly," I told him feeling extremely embarrassed. "More like Evie's friend Bea and my friend York fighting. And it's wasn't exactly about me. To be honest I don't really know what it was about." My dad harrumphed and stepped on the gas as the light turned green.

"Well just be careful. I don't want you getting into any fights."

"I will dad; you don't have to worry about me getting into any fights."

"Yeah can you imagine Emmy in a fight? She wouldn't last two seconds!" Evie laughed from the front of the car.

"Hey I could probably hold my own in a fight!" I said indignantly. Evie just laughed even harder and even my dad let out a little chuckle. I huffed and sank lower in my seat, I looked out the window at all of the trees spinning by. As I looked at all the green and brown of the outdoors I caught sight of something white flash by. I blinked, what was that? It flashed by again and this time I got a better look. It was a wolf, or what I thought must be a wolf, its coat was almost a snowy white. It was running through the woods almost dizzyingly fast, but it started to slow down and look around almost like it was looking for something. I watched in fascination as the wolf looked around, until it suddenly looked directly at me in the car. I could have sworn it made eye contact with me, and it suddenly made me feel uneasy, I gasped and dropped lower in my seat so I couldn't see out the window.

"Are you alright Emmy?" Dad asked me looking through the rear view mirror.

"Uh, yeah I am." I looked back out the window but I didn't see the wolf anywhere. "Hey dad?"

   "Yeah sweetie?"

"What are you and mom researching this time?" I ask, wondering what mythical creature had brought us to Endsbrooke Oregon.

"Werewolves," Dad spoke sitting up a little straighter, he loved talking about his work. I gulped.

"Werewolves? As in humans that turn into wolves?" I ask.

"Yup that's the one." He chuckled.

   "But why Endsbrooke?"

"Well this part of the region has a lot of werewolf stories. It also has almost an over population of wolves."

"What?" Evie shrieked from the front.

"Yes there have been a remarkable number of sightings here in Endsbrooke." He sighed as if it was the greatest thing in the world.

"Isn't that kind of dangerous?" I asked nervously.

"Not if you don't go into the woods by yourself. It's perfectly safe here. There have hardly been any wolf related deaths or injuries here which is rather remarkable for all the wolves that actually live here."

"I don't think that is very reassuring dad." Evie scoffed.

"Girls don't worry about it. Besides just think about how great this is for mine and your mother's work."

"Oh yeah just great, moving your family to a wolf infested town," I said. Dad just laughed under his breath and kept driving.
