I took the rest of the week off because I was just too disturbed with what happened at work, and I needed time to think.

I was also disturbed because of how Robert was avoiding talking to me about what happened between us, and I was almost resigned with the thought that it was just a mistake from his point of view.

It was a gloomy day, and I didn't feel like doing anything. I stayed in bed almost the whole day and only got out of it to eat and to go to the bathroom. The warm blanket was too inviting, and I didn't want to leave it just yet.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang. When I opened the door, there was a UPS guy outside my apartment holding a package in his hands.

"Diana Wright?" he asked me.

"Yes?"

"You have a delivery," he said and handed me a big, nicely wrapped box that had a red bow on it.

"I didn't order anything," I said and took the box from his hand, expecting it to be heavier. Whatever it was in it, it must've been something light.

"I don't know, ma'am, I just have an order to deliver it here. Good day!" he said and left.

I looked again at the big red bow, and a smile emerged on my face when I realized it was most likely a present from Robert.

I tore the wrapping paper quickly and opened it, and there was a blue silky fabric. I took it out - it was a beautiful long dress.

"Oh, my God, this is amazing!" I said out loud to myself, grinning.

There was a note in the box as well. I grabbed it swiftly and read it impatiently.

It said: "For the most beautiful woman, please accept my gift and my invitation to dinner this weekend. Please give 'us' a chance to try..."

My eyes almost felt teary when I read that, and my heart started to beat faster because of the excitement.

I started to jump up and down in my small apartment like a stupid kid until I felt tired, and I stopped and read the note again. And then again and again, until I memorized it.

Then I turned the note on the other side, and when I saw who the sender was, my expression turned into a frown.

The note was signed: John.

I took a pen and wrote on the same note: "After all the time we spent together, you proved to me one more time you still don't know that I can't be bought with gifts. P.S.: There's nothing to try. Diana"

I couldn't believe he had the audacity to send me gifts. And how the hell did he know where I lived?

If I thought about it, Robert didn't know where I lived, either, so it was stupid of me to think the package was from him.

I grabbed the dress and put it back in the box along with the note and looked for the return address. Thankfully, there was a slip on the box containing the sender's information, so I took the box, sealed it, and I headed straight to the courier's office to ship it back.

There was a courier company close to the area I lived in, so I got dressed and went there by foot. It wasn't exactly a smart decision since the rain was slowly starting to fall, but I was too lazy to go back up to my apartment and take my car keys, so I just picked up the pace in stead.

As I was walking on my way there, I suddenly heard a short car horn. I looked around me on the street, and I saw a dark Kuga pulling over next to me. It had tinted windows, so I wasn't able to see who the driver was, but I recognized Robert's car. He rolled down the passenger's side window and said, "Hey!"
