track # 8 : Teenage Fever – Drake
"Seek respect. Not attention. It lasts longer. "
————"HE's DEAD." America said to Ace.
Ace looked up from his pancakes to stare at her. She cleared her throat and sawed her knife into her ham. It was only out of the blue that she decided to tell Ace about her father after all of these years. He'd questioned her once, and she told him that she never knew who he was, but the more days that went by, and the more things that Ace heard going around, he knew that America was hiding something about her father that he didn't know.
He didn't grow up with his mother for a majority of his life, and never knew who his father was either. The lack of a parental support was just something else that brought them together. It made it that much easier for them to relate. He didn't want to have to think that everything they had talked about: the secrets, the stories, everything valuable that they shared during those late night stops up on the cold, pointy rock in Drewston Park over the years were all a lie.
America's father was dead. This was what she called the truth anyway. On the other end, it was far from what anybody else would consider truthful.
