track #28 : It Will Rain — Bruno Mars
"Getting sad for no reason after you've been so happy for a long time is literally one of the worst feelings ever."
EVERY DAY wasn't a perfect day.
They had officially hit a month and a half, and America could no longer sit still. The fear of going outside had become so instilled in her daily routine that it was all she could think about. The last time Ace tried to get her to step outside to get some fresh air, things didn't end well. America argued back and forth that she was content with staying inside and convinced him to believe that if she were to open a window and stick her head outside, she'd be getting the proper amount of sunlight to make up for the days she'd stayed holed in. Regardless of her striding across the apartment floors in anxious circles, Ace took time to find reassuring words to share with her. Nothing really worked, anyway, though she was grateful for him caring.
America was perched on the wooden ledge near the windows, watching a pair of police cars whiz by on the busy streets down below. She relaxed her clenched fists and jumped from her state of slight panic when Ace leaned over her. He pulled the weighty curtains across the window to block her view from the street. She tilted her head upwards to look at him, and per usual, the look on his face was full of concern and aggravation. Her back pressed up against the wall and she sighed when he sat down beside her.
