HIS SEDUCING EYES, his soft caramel skin, his 6'3 tall stature, pink lips and mind full of intelligence was what drew her to him, but what made her feelings of love impossible to stray from him, ultimately, was the reign of protection that he had over her. She appreciated how he watched out for her, making sure that she was in good spirits; there when she needed him to be, even when things got rough between them.

She'd known him since she was sixteen. Amazingly, he'd never strayed from her side, even when she felt that she became too difficult to deal with. From her younger days when the loss of trust in her mother prompted her to running away from home and led her to showing up that night in the rain on the front porch of Ace's grandmother's house, to him letting her sleep in his bed while he slept on the floor, lying to her mother and her older sister Teema that he had no idea where she went all those years ago, Ace was the definition of what America would call a true friend.
