"TEEMA WAS THERE." Ace said.
America lifted up her grilled cheese and rolled her eyes. As she bit into the perfectly grilled crust, she shrugged her shoulders at Ace. He reached for the ketchup she got from the refrigerator and he shook it up before opening the cap. America chewed on the bread and cheese in her mouth slowly as her left foot began to bounce out of habit. She tried acting like she didn't care, but when she picked up the remote to the television hanging from the kitchen wall, and eventually turned the volume down, it was clear that she did.
"Okay..." she said. "Well, what was she doin' there?"
Ace waited until he had a good pile of ketchup squirted on his plate to say something. He licked the small smidge of ketchup from the side of his index finger and America watched him dip the end of his grilled cheese into the ketchup. He was one of those people that ate his grilled cheese like that. America was never a fan of mixing the two, but Ace made it look good. Her hand extended for the ketchup bottle and she squirted her own pool of the red condiment onto her plate.
