track 31: Clutch — Col3trane ft. Kiana Ledé

"The people who love you will correct you, so be open to criticism, apologize and put pride aside, learn from each other, grow together. Watch things fall in place when you humble yourself. . . No one has the power to hurt you like your kin."

The sun came up over the horizon and lit up the apartment in bright yellow hues. America didn't expect the morning to come as quick as it did, but she knew she wasn't looking forward to it from the very second she rolled over on her side to see that Ace wasn't beside her. She brushed her teeth and washed her face before stepping out into the hallway. The apartment was silent; the only audible noise present was the sound coming from the heat running through the vents.

She had already convinced herself that Ace had taken leave, and she twitched knowing that he'd left without telling her. Except, when she rounded the corner to get to the kitchen, she jumped slightly when she saw him sitting at the kitchen table, wiping off the gun he retrieved from underneath the cabinets with a white cloth. His eyes moved upward to look at her and the first thing she could think of doing was scratching the side of her face. The quick walk towards the refrigerator consisted of her staring at his forehead as soon as his attention was back on his task.
