The window rolled down and Jungkook leaned over to make sure it was you.
'Y/N? What are you doing wondering around so late?'
You stopped in your tracks and leaned into the window. The warm air hit you and you almost dived into the seat. He was alone in the car with a couple luggage bags tossed in the back seats.
'I could ask you the same thing,' you remarked, playing with one of the rings clinging to your blue finger.
He glanced at your fingers and your pinched cheeks. 'You look freezing, get in here.' Jungkook leant over the passenger seat to push the door open.
You very quickly weighed your options.
Get in the car with a near stranger in the middle of the night on a dark street.
Freeze to death on the side of the road.
It wasn't really a consideration. You quickly hustled onto the seat and nearly cried of happiness when the warm air con hit your moulded face and feet.
It wasn't like it was the first time in his car anyway. He had a caring presence and you didn't truly fear getting kidnapped or murdered.
Ok it was a dangerous and stupid decision, stranger danger and all that. But desperation was currently winning.
'Seriously, are you ok?' Junkook's concerned look was shot at you as he leant over your body to reach for your seatbelt.
His warm breath tickled your face and you felt the urge to grab this human water bottle to get warm.
But you would've got kicked out of the hot den for being criminally insane, so you stayed put as he attached your seat belt.
'Yeah I'm alright. My apartment changed from a key to a number pad and didn't give me the code, for some reason. I've been out with friends so I missed the office hours to call to ask for the number,' you explained, opening your palms to the warm vents.
'That's not great, how long have you been wandering around for?'
'Not too long, maybe half an hour.'
Jungkook sat there, as if in thought. He sat staring at the street lamps, then at you.
His piercing eyes unnerved you slightly, but you remembered him as a pretty nice guy.
'I really appreciate you warming me up a bit, but I'm getting hyper aware that we're stand still in the middle of the road,' you opened the door grudgingly. 'Thank you for -'
I'm the blink of a second Jungkook pressed some button by his side which slammed your door shut. Thankfully your limbs were all still attached after this swift movement.
'If you even think for a second I'm letting you catch 7 colds tonight and probably get kidnapped you're out of your mind,' Jungkook said, gently stepping in the accelerate. He began winding down the roads.
You were caught off guard by the motion and were left confused at his words. 'Sorry?'
'Y/N it's freezing and you have no where to go, I assume from the pointless walking. You're staying with me for now, seriously,' Jungkook sternly spoke, his eyes never leaving the road.
His concern was sweet, but staying out all night with a stranger? Something didn't seem right. What was he doing out so late anyway?
'That's... kind, but I -'
Jungkook shot you a look and you knew you were glued to that seat. You swallowed, a small lump of fear embedding into your throat.
'What are you doing driving around at 1am?' You whispered, folding your hands into a ball and placing them in your thighs.
Jungkook's arm extended to change gear as he said, 'I'm catching an early morning flight. I don't see the point in sleeping for a couple hours and then getting up in the middle of a deep sleep. So I tend to just drive around for a few hours.'
Your fear lent you towards not believing him, but you had to.
'Drive where?'
'Anywhere really. I guess it's an opportunity to get to know this massive city a little better.'
His words made sense. Waking up from a deep sleep did leave you feeling disgusting and tired. Pretty close to your current state then.
'Well let's pass some time then, show me your favourite part of the city,' you said, still very weary by this unknown personality sitting by your side.
Jungkook passed a wide smile at your comment and instantly turned on the indicators.
'Your wish is my command.'
He turned up his music slightly and carried out his promise of driving to this unknown destination.
Your mind instantly began to wonder. Was he driving you to your death? What if his "favourite place" was some dark alley where a gang would beat you up? What if he holds you at gunpoint and asks you to be part in some piranid scheme and "no" results in a bullet to the skull?
A couple more minutes of this crazy thinking continued. Due to no traffic at this time, Jungkook managed to navigate his way around the city pretty quickly.
He swerved down a large road and you instantly recognised where you were. The Han River.
Simply catching a glimpse of the familiar water eased your mind. The river had been a comfort to you during many hard times. Your breakup, after failing exams and just generally when life got too much.
Jungkook turned to a car park overlooking a marina. There were limited cars present, so he grabbed a spot right on the edge, overlooking the boats.
He switched off the engine, immediately silencing the song. As soon as the silence hit Jungkook tuned to face you.
'This is it. My comfort place, this specific marina.'
You skimmed the view. It was beautiful. A grass layer swept over the ground and small delicate boats were cuddling next to huge yachts asserting their dominance. It was a relatively small marina, not as elegant as the Seoul Marina club and yacht. It was cosy, maybe held some significance to Jungkook.
'This is where I spent the majority of my teenage years,' he explained. 'My Dad would give me his boat for the day so me and my friends could go sailing.'
You grinned at how casually this humble-brag was tossed into the conversation.
'Boat?' You enquired.
'That one there, right in front of us,' Jungkook pointed towards the monster standing tall, bobbing slightly in the water.
'Oh that miniature cruise, you and your friends must have felt a little cramped,' you joked. Staring right back at you was this huge, pearl white yacht with a silver balcony framing itself. You spotted some calligraphed print painting the sides, but it was too far away to identify what is said. It screamed "douche," however you couldn't help but be in awe.
Jungkook chuckled and spluttered, 'I know it's ridiculous, sums up my whole life. I was spoiled - still am.' His eyes were glued to this boat. You could see his face had glowed up, not only because of the bright lighting in the car park.
"Well, it is beautiful,' you stated.
Jungkook turned his attention back to you. He seemed to be examining your face so you turned to look at him.
You raised your eyebrows questioning his examination. 'Everything alright?'
'Yeah sorry, I'm just checking your not some loony who will rob me,' Jungkook laughed.
'Can't lie I've been doing that to you this entire ride,' you admitted.
Jungkook smiled, glanced at the yacht then back to you. 'Let's climb on board then.'
